Confirmed: LSU at Georgia kickoff at 3:30 on CBS

The LSU Tigers will play the Georgia Bulldogs at 3:30 pm (ET) in Sanford Stadium according to the official LSU web site. This will be UGA's first game on CBS this season. The last time the Dawgs played LSU at home, they beat them senseless. Wait...that's the same thing that happened when we played them on the road...and at a neutral site.

Other SEC kickoff times for Oct. 3rd are:

SEC Network -- 12:21 p.m. Alabama at Kentucky
CBS -- 3:30 p.m. LSU at Georgia
ESPNU -- 7 p.m. Ole Miss at Vanderbilt
ESPN Classic -- 7 p.m. South Carolina State at South Carolina
ESPN 2 -- 7:30 p.m. Texas A&M vs. Arkansas (Arlington, Texas)
CSS -- 7:30 p.m. Georgia Tech at Miss. State
ESPN -- 7:45 p.m. Auburn at Tennessee

Oct. 3rd is the week we find out what UGA and Auburn in particular are really made of. I have a good feeling we already know that UT and LSU are all about.

LSU hasn't won in Athens since 1988 and have dropped 6 of the last 8 to us.

Let's hope we put it all together and shore the defensive issues by October 3rd.

GATA.

Gosh, it's almost weird to see that kind of pressure being put on the opposing QB.

The good ol' days ...

Amen to that.

Pollack looks like a bat out of hell evading two blockers to take down the QB. Damn, he was good.

So that's what a sack looks like.

Thanks for the video...

I came to post about how awesome the glory days of great defense were and find that 6 other ppl have already beat me to it. Seems like I'm not the only one who craves more lights out D.

That D played like they were flat out pissed off. I miss those days...

What a shame #47 didn't get to take that to the NFL.

I figured we'd get the 3:30 game. Cool deal

Let's make it 4 in a row over Da Tigers!

Good news...The early start leaves people less time to trash old campus...

Take it to the bank, UT offense will look completely different when they play UGA. Kiffen won't play that conservatively against our defense.

Lot of interesting possibilities for TV the week we play UT.

They should put that film on loop in the locker room...that is what the Junkyard Dawg D looks like.

Boy, I'm an awesome coach.

1-on-1 against Fred Gibson and Reggie Brown? Sure, why not? I'm a defensive genius, people!

Also, check that knee on the 1. It takes a tough man to teach special teams like that.

Like everyone else, I had forgotten what a real pass ruch looked like......(in your singing voice) "where o where has my pass rush gone? o where o where can you be?"

shouldnt be that hard for the dogs to beat team that cant pass farther than 10yds.

Kentucky doing their own version of midnight madness with football now? That may be a little late for me to watch.

Why would Gameday come to Athens for a CBS game? Especially one that lackadasical? I mean, really, #21 vs. #7 LSU? Not a big crowd pleaser, to say the least.

What a great game it was to watch! We jumped on LSU with both feet right from the start. I don't recall Sanford Stadium having been that loud in a long time with the exception of the Alabama game last year right before kick-off. The fans were into the LSU game the entire time and the place was rocking! Now if only we could find our defense that's been MIA for the past several years.....

Who misses David Pollack? ME ME ME.

While the Alabama game will be on at 12:21 a.m. here in Hong Kong, I am sure you meant "p.m."

JasonC said...

Wow!
Our receivers just flat dominated them.
The pass rush was great. Pollack was insane, he runs by one guy and on another play, sits the tackle on his a$$.
I loved how Thomas Brown popped up in stride from that tackle on the long run and looked like he was taking a walk in the park. Then, on the next play he freakin' runs over a guy to get into the endzone.
And to cap it off, Saban's humiliated expression after the games is priceless.

Three things:

1) I enjoy (re)watching that game as much as any I can think of. Well, maybe the 2005 SECCG.

2) Reggie Brown's TD catch may be the best TD catch by a UGA receiver in the Richt era. Name a better one. Exactly.

3) I miss BVG.

Let's see:
1) sacks
2) turnovers
3) a kick off into the endzone

Things I fear we might only see in that old footage.

Actually I think the pass rush will get better.

Also, it should be noted that all came against a future #1 overall draft pick. Gosh, the Raiders are so stupid! (Or Russell is one unlucky dude and it might just be the latter).

So much win in the football in that video... so much FAIL in the music. And it's not so much a music critique in general, as much as it should have been obvious IT SIMPLY DOES NOT FIT a video full of football highlights. Ugh.

To the first poster: coming soon......

LSU won in Athens in 1987. Mike Archer's team led by QB Tommy Hodsen squeaked by. UGA wideout John Thomas dropped a sure TD pass from James Jackson which lost the game for us.

UGA wins that game, we win the SEC that year. Instead, LSU got the hardware.

Heartbreaking loss.

JaxDawg said...

Correction above - AU won the SEC in '87 under Dye. LSU won it with Hodson in '86 and '88. GA lost to AU in '87 (after winning in dramatic fashion with Wayne Johnson in AU in '86) so we could not have won the SEC that year regardless of our LSU outcome.

AU had Lawyer Tillman if I recall who was an incredible WR/TE hybrid. And in vintage AU fashion, they also had some talented but incredibly stupid tailbacks.

Gotta agree on the music, extremely lame.

And has there ever been a better DE to play the college game than David Pollack. He has to at least be in the top 5 all time.

so what happens when UK beats UF this weekend??? The biggest game in the history of JP Sports/Raycom/SEC Regional???

Anonymous said...

JaxDawg - I was at the 1987 LSU game as a student and remember it well! The Dawgs fell behind quickly and trailed most of the game before mounting a comeback. The stadium was rocking when Cassius Osborn turned a 10 yard out into a 75 yard TD reception. The Dawgs then came flying back down the field late in the game and were in the red zone for the go ahead TD when Rodney Hampton had a pass go thru his hands and into the arms of an LSU defender for an INT, which effectively ended the game. Tough loss, but the "D" highlight was when Ben Smith decleated Tom Hodgson (SP) as he was running out of bounds - drew a 15 yard flag, but possibly the hardest hit I've ever seen!

Wow... It really does not look to me like the defense is playing mad - it looks to me like they are having the time of their lives. Having fun, sort of like the whole team did at the first blackout? What happened to that fun? Did it get drafted in the first round? No, it did not = all these guys need to do is come to grips with the fact that they are some of the most talented players in the country, and maybe they can start to execute consistently.

Pollack is (was) amazing… no messing around, get the guy on the ground and celebrate – simple right? But notice also that there are no less than three Dawgs there for each of those sacks – much like the man-handling Tebow got in 2007. Just an observation…

anon 1245...that hit by Ben probably cost us the game.

Penalty extended their winning td drive.

the biggest thing I have about that LSU game was how dissapointed I was when UGA played UT the next week. Cant believe UT came in and beat us at home that year. Hate to be Debbie Downer, I am just afraid that it could happen again this year. Though the UGA/UT game is in Knoxville.

JJ said...

That may have been the worse pairing of highlights and music in the history of You Tube.

@WFdawg: One could maybe make an argument for Fred Gibson's catch at Bama in '02 "on his whatchamacallit."
