On the one hand, Herschel is a sixth-degree blackbelt. On the other hand, he's 47 years old.
I will go in there and test myself against any 20 year old," Walker said. "I know there will be naysayers and I'm fine with that. I want to prove to people who sit on a couch and don't do anything but criticize other people that, if you're a true athlete or martial artist, you're not old until you can't get up and walk around anymore. MMA fighters are said to be some of the best athletes in the world, my plan at the age of 47 is to show the world I am stillHerschel will immediately begin an 8-12 week training academy. His first fight will probably be in 2010.
one of the best athletes as well.
There's no denying the guy is a force of nature and has kept himself in incredible shape. He's been studying martial arts for the better part of three decades, so it's not like he picked some random activity like, say, bobsledding. But he's 47! I guess if anybody can do it, he can. GATA.
If Herschel decides he wants to get into pro wrestling, he could form the GREATEST TAG TEAM IN THE HISTORY OF THE UNIVERSE.

Judging on how he did on the Joes vs the Pros, I am not sure this is a good idea. Do they still have the wresling bear near Athens as they did in the 70s?
At least it's more manly than Dancing with the Stars
I love him and I hate to see him get his ass kicked.
The smar Alec in me expected your tag team link go to a wikipedia entry on schizophrenia.
Why in the hell would HW want to do this?
If you need a challenge, then become a triathlete or something. Or just concentrate on your business interests while maintaining yourself physically.
Between the personality disorders, the celebrity apprentice, and now this silly mess- it appears my boy is just starving for either (1) the spotlight, or (2) something to fill his time, or (3) both.
With all of his recent *strange* pursuits, you wonder if Herschel's agent is pushing in these directions.
Either way, please don't let this stunt turn out to be a horrible idea.
Bill Bates just tapped out!
Kiffin said Monday that he didn't want to respond to Meyer's comment.
But when asked whether he was worried about the flu hitting Tennessee, Kiffin had this to say: "I don't know. I guess we'll wait and after we're not excited about a performance, we'll tell you everybody was sick."
reminds me of a young SOS
For the life of me, I cannot understand nor fathom why ANY supporter of UGA athletics would want TN to lose to FL, or in other words, want Lane Kiffin and TN to fail vs. Urban and The God of Hairgel.
Sure- we all hate TN.
But we HAAAAAAATTTTTTTEEEEEEEEE Florida.
Remember - we've been kicking TN's ass for the better part of a decade.
FL has been kicking ours for TWO.
So tell me, besides an atomic bomb dropping at midfield, why would we want TN to lose?
We hate Tennessee. We hate Peyton. We hate Majors. Before there was Florida, there was Tennessee (and Bama, of course). We should want everyone in the SEC to lose.
I will never root for Tennessee, but I did want them to cover the spread against UF.
Andy,
I hear ya bro but I'm living in the now, not the 90's.
@F Florida
Because we want the Gators to be #1 when we play them maybe? That gives us the best chance to move up in the polls if we beat them.
I tend to put the hate aside and think of what puts us in the best position.
Time doesn't heal wounds. Hate them all, that's what I'm saying. If Tech plays Tennessee in the Peach Bowl or Chick-fil-A Bowl, I'm rooting for nerds to whip that hunter-orange ass. Or the atomic bomb, if that happens first. . .
To me, Tennessee is too insignificant to hate at this point. My hate tends to shift towards the teams that beat us recently and consistently.
@Rick- I am with you. Whatever puts us in the best position is how we should distribute our hate.
@Andy- There is never a reason to root for tech. If Tenn played Tech, you should just watch something else. Maybe a rerun of dirty dancing, anything would be better than Tech v tenn
I don't think a Walker/ Goldberg tag team would be fair. The sheer awesomeness would cause many arena's to simply implode on itself.
Rick,
You contradict yourself.
Either you want Florida to lose, or you want them to win (vs. another SEC opponent).
Which is it?
@JaxDawg
Read my comments again. I stated that I wanted UF to beat UT so that they'll remain #1, thus giving UGA a bigger boost in the polls if we beat UF.
After the jacksonville game, I'll be rooting for every SEC team that plays against UF.
So does anyone have a theory as to which game UF will drop this year? @LSU seems like the obvious choice but I'm thinking @South Carolina could be the sleeper. (besides the jax game)
On an entirely different note, why do we only have 11 games scheduled for next year? Are we going to add one, or does all of college football revert back to the 11-game schedule? Sorry if I am stupid.
I wanted Florida to beat Tennessee because they are clearly the superior team. Florida is the best team in the country and they are not going to lose. To anybody.
The only team I want to see beat Florida is Georgia but that is not going to happen my friends. Not this year. We do not have the talent or the coaching to win that game.
Florida is going to win their 3rd national championship in 4 years and Herschel is going to get his ass kicked.
It hurts but the truth oftentimes does.
This year's Florida team is not last year's team, no matter how blinded you are by your Gator Goggles, and no matter how brainwashed you are by the media. They will not go undefeated, guaranteed.
It hurts but the truth oftentimes does.

Tell me Rick. Which team is better? Southern Cal? Texas? Notre Dame?
Who is going to beat them?
I would love to see Georgia beat Florida. Hell I would love to see Georgia seriously compete with Florida.
But the awful truth is that Florida has tremendous talent and even better coaching.
There is not a team on the field that is last years team. Just like you never step into the same river twice you never field the same team twice either.
But Florida keeps on because they mean business and they have coaches who can coach players up and players who can get on the same page as the coaches. Theirs is a true organizational and team effort.
Instead of hating them we might try to learn from them.
