That's Loserville USA. They have to trim the turnovers, or this season could get wildly out of hand. You can lose to anyone with -2 or -3 turnovers a game (Stats: NCAA).

For all of the preseason hype about Cox being a smart, "cerebral" QB, he sure has made a lot of bonehead decisions thus far in the season.
He also runs his mouth post-game more than I care to hear.
I guess this is just the Ginger in him.
"You can lose to anyone with -2 or -3 turnovers a game."
And yet...we're 3-1 (2-0) despite pretty much getting the best shot of the first four teams. No tomato cans here, no off weeks.
Now, after hearing all Sunday how we're to fire Bobo, Willie, Searels (really, someone said that on the vent), Richt, Damon, and I guess install Michael Adams as coach, coordinator, and recruiter, I'd prefer to step back and say hey- maybe, just maybe, someone's doing something right somewhere on the Georgia sideline and in the huddle.
The newest ridiculous spin from self-hating Dawgs is that we're "lucky" to have AJ Green, as if he somehow fell from the sky into Sanford Stadium, and if he wasn't being coached into being the best freaking player in the conference (/country) as a true sophomore. Hilarious.
The turnovers suck. Really, really suck. Clamp down on that, and this team can be absolute money. But as for the predictions of impending doom...well, let's all remember the names of those who said this team was itching for an 0-3 start after the first loss. Stop crying wolf. It makes you look tacky.
"For all of the preseason hype about Cox being a smart, "cerebral" QB, he sure has made a lot of bonehead decisions thus far in the season."
He was also national offensive player of the week two weeks ago, and was able to make money throws on Saturday to lead us to victory. Helps to have AJ, yes, but he's still got to give him the ball.
Fix the turnovers, and we can stay with anyone. I agree, the constant whining gets old from some of our fans. It seems they almost want UGA to lose.
Am I the only person that thinks the push by number 7, on the referee was on purpose and not a mistake.
You're dead on anon 10:06. AJ is here because he loves our coaches and we recruited our tails off to get him out of Crackilack's back yard. Boy, is he good.
I kind of like Cox's moxy. He's a little mouthy and fiery, but I think we need that. I think that's why we don't wilt like we did last year. Matthew delivered the company line after the game, and I'll bet it sounded similar in the huddle. That's not bad, just different.
This team has HUGE potential. What if we'd had a few cupcakes to acclimate Sanders, Bicarri, & Branden on Defense and Marlon, Rontavious, Branden, and Washaun on offense. We didn't. We've played 4 wars against BCS teams that focused their entire summers on us and ended up 3-1, despite the mind-boggling -9 turnover ration. Sometimes you just have to look at it from a distance.
If I told you in August that Caleb doesn't play the first two games, we lose in Stillwater, we have 12 turnovers in the first 4 games and are -9 overall, have over 10 penalties in Faytetteville, and give up 37 to Crackilack and 41 to Arky...what would our record be after 4 games. You'd be stunned to know we're 3-1.
Let's fix it and get rolling. The positive thing to me is that this team feels more like 2007 than 2008 to me. Like we're pretty good, but just can't put it together. If you'll recall, we decided to put it together on the banks of the St. John's River. I prefer to put it together in big conference rather than rainy non-conference games. Let's hope we see us start putting it together this week. FWIW, I don't think we have to put it all together to beat LSU, just don't turn it over and play solid.
Wow. That terrible in the turnover department and Georgia is 3-1? The defense must be pretty darn good!
Another terrible effect of turnovers is that it gives overmatched teams hope. We aren't as intimidating as we used to be, and I would like to know how to get it back. Teams roll over and die for Florida and Alabama, but no one has for us since 2007, when Hawaii looked terrified from the opening kick-off. We jumped on Kentucky 14-0 last year and let them come back. We were dominating AZ State and let them back in the game. We have got to learn to bury teams when we jump on them early.
You know Spurrier has to die just a little bit every time AJ makes a catch.
Hawaii was a Div II team dressed up like a big boy.
AJ Green isn't coached up anymore than Peyton Manning is. He is just natural God given talent.
"AJ Green isn't coached up anymore than Peyton Manning is. He is just natural God given talent."
So is Reshad Jones.
"Hawaii was a Div II team dressed up like a big boy."
I've heard that argument before and it doesn't wash. Hawaii was overmatched, sure, but they also had the #1 offense in the country, and that doesn't happen in a vacuum. Georgia's defense shut down a prolific attack and physically manhandled not just UH but Auburn's, Kentucky's, Tech's, and Florida's offenses as well.
This comment is mostly inane, but I'm searching for something. Help me find it...
The problem is not turnovers per se, but turnover margin. The solution is not necessarily to trim down our turnovers (though of course that would be nice), but to get more takeaways on defense. We need the margin to come closer to even, however that happens. The truth is that we probably WANT to be an offense that commits a fair number of turnovers, b/c with greater risk comes greater reward (usually).
Our other big problem is the TIMING of the turnovers, as many have pointed out. But that has to be basically random, just dumb luck. I'm skeptical that there is anything you can really coach that would make you turn the ball over more at "better" times. Turnovers happen when they happen, and in the long run it tends to even out both in terms of differential to your opponent and in terms of where you are on the field when you turn it over.
We have had bad luck in our timing. We also need a defense that can do a better job of forcing turnovers to get it back to even. If we have an offense that is capable of flying up and down the field, but also turns it over 2-3 times a game, that is a livable arrangement IF the other team ALSO turns it over 2-3 times a game.
Crazy?
Every time Joe Cox throws and interception, and angel loses its wings....
I hope we do lose at least 5 games this year so Damon Evans will change some things with the coaching staff. We will never catch up to Florida or Alabama unless we get a new coaching staff. CMR has had 8 years to get us to the National Championship game, and I have a feeling it will be another long 8 years as long as he is calling the shots. We need a hard nosed, in-your-face coach like VanGorder if we ever expect to get to the big dance. Willie is a joke - Richt won't fire him b/c they are good buddies, so Damon Evans needs to wipe the slate clean and bring in an aggressive staff if we ever expect to be a true National Title contender. Thank you CMR for being a nice guy, your time is up.
Tired,
please never again call yourself a Georgia fan. You disgust the rest of us. Seriously, you're pathetic.
tired,
the only problem with the staff is martinez. our offense got better as soon as bobo took over play calling and for the most part hasnt looked back. the d got worse as soon as willie took over. CMR is a great head coach but he shouldve never hired his friends. now he is stuck. how can u call urself a dawg when u want this team, who still has the players and realistic chance for greatness? we really do have a shot at the sec championship if we get our act together. the turnovers and sorry defense have to stop first.
correction.
how can u call urself a dawg when u want this team, who still has the players and realistic chance for greatness, to lose?
The Watch Dawg:
How am I the pathetic one for wanting a National Championship? You are the pathetic one for being content have the Dawgs finish 3rd or 4th best in our conference almost every year. Everyone that thinks another 10 win season is great for our program is blind and dumb. When you have the talent we can recruit - we should be contending every year. Ask your Mom if I disgusted her last night.
Not trying to threadjack, but does anyone know the name of the song they played at Sanford when the players danced on the sideline? Thanks in advance to anyone who answers.
Turnovers and penalties go together like peanut butter and jelly. While I'm disappointed that we commit so many TOs and penalties, I'm not shocked by the fact that we rank so highly (or lowly I guess) in both statistics.
Also, let me say this again, I heart AJ Green.
Tired -
Which of the 3 active coaches with better winning percentages should Damon go after?
P.S. You're an asshat.
tired,
I agree that certain changes need to be made (definitely not our head coach). However you are revealing yourself to be a relatively new follower of the Dawgs when you refer to our winningest 8 year stretch in program history as "a long 8 years."
Anon 2:23:
Just because Richt hired his BFF for DC does not mean he is stuck.
It is apparent to all that WM is not of the caliber of other DC's in the SEC.
If Richt wants to win a National Title, he will have to make the tough decision and let Martinez go; otherwise, Richt may be the one shown the door.
Tired:
I suspect you are using the computers at the "media center" in your middle school somewhere in suburbia.
Perhaps to a 12 yr old, CMR's 8 yrs without a NC is an eternity. To anyone with a hint of perspective, this is so absurd it is hardly worth responding to.
We have been the most consistent team in the SEC this decade. Sure we've had some misfires. But you're crazy to punt this guy.
If you think that the next Bear Bryant is lurking in obsurity somewhere waiting to be plucked up, you're watching "In Search of: Sasquatch" too much.
PS, Tired is correct. Being happy with mediocrity is like being happy catching AIDS.
RedCrake - what's an asshat? Can you show me an asshat this Saturday? I'll be on North Campus by a red and black tent.
Why is it that people are saying we need a hell raiser on the sidelines. Show me one of those that is winning in today's game. That style of coaching just doesnt work on this generation of athletes. It hasnt in a while, ask Bobby Knight. I'm not saying you need to pat the players on the back and tell them good job no matter what. But, I can promise you MOST of these players will not respond to that type of feedback. I also think our recruiting would suffer if UGA went with that type of coach.
Also, I think CWM can read/watches the game. I have faith that he is doing everything that he can and is learning other tactics. Remember that it takes 11 players AND a coaching staff to make it happen. You dont have to beat teams by 30 to be a good team, you just have to win - which is what UGA does more often that not.
Just Win Baby!
Hell:
Case in point = Ron Zook
defense wins championships. thats why willie must go.
Tired-
It's when people look at you and all they can see is an ass. You know, cause its like you have one on your head.
No need for me to show you one...you do have mirrors in your house, right internet tough guy?
If you expect to write a comment like that on a blog like this and not get ridiculed, you're more dumb than your comment made you look.
That said, I'm tired of you.

RedCrake -
You initiated this by insulting me - I did not insult you so you are the dumb one. And guess what - everyone is tired of you and your pointless posts. At least I am man enough to speak the truth about our program and where it's headed.
How you like them apples...internet tough guy? Loser!
I seriously can't believe that Tired actually thinks firing CMR is a good move. Lets see here since CMR has taken over he has:
Overall Record 85-23
Win Percentage 78.7%
10 win seasons: 6
East Division Champs: 4 times
SEC Champs: 2 times
Bowl Game Record: 4-1
BCS Game Record: 2-1
Yea he needs to fire Martinez but Damon would make a huge mistake by firing CMR
Tired,
I love apples!!! How did you know?
What pointless posts specifically?
And who are all these people who are tired of me that you speak for? From where I'm sitting all I've seen is a bunch of posts calling you out.
Since you previously responded to another commenter with this gem: "Ask your Mom if I disgusted her last night," I figured I'd try to communicate with you in a way you'd understand. I apologize for my confrontational tone. It was wrong of me and since I am terrified of perhaps running into you on North Campus this Saturday, I politely want to rescind my earlier comment.
And yes, speaking the "truth" about our program makes you a man.
RedCrake -
I am so so sorry if I offended you or pissed you off. Please come by my tailgate so we can hug it out.
Not offended or pissed in the least my friend.
Does this mean we can be BFF's?
(In all seriousness, the asshat line was uncalled for--nonetheless, I have rather enjoyed our little back and forth)
Tired,
I actually initiated it by calling you pathetic. But I agree with RedCrake, you are an asshat as well.
Asshat: One who has their head up their ass. Thus wearing their ass as a hat.

NOOOOOO!!!..
Can't we all just unite behind our hatred of Jon Fabris and get along???
Thank you RedCrake and Tired. I needed a good mid-afternoon laugh.
Tired - You are an asshat, and please clean up your trash on north campus because your making the rest of us look like asshats.
Dasher said it?
You mean one of his sources?
The same sources that said Cox wasn't starting the South Carolina game?
I don't think Dasher's your guy for the inner workings at BM these days.
Ok, I'll admit it. I don't actually attend the games. My cat and I watch from home. This "tailgate" of mine is nothing more than a couple of red milk crates I set up in my living room. You're still free to stop by if you want. Same goes for everyone here. Please? Someone? Anyone?
Oh and btw I have a small penis.
Tired = BEST POSTER EVAH!!!!!!
PS - Tired does in fact clean up his trash on N. Campus. Believe me, this mother can tailgate, and he is a loyal former UGA athlete.
He loves UGA and speaks the truth on our coaching problems!
Billy Humphrey???
Just kidding...honestly.
Swimming actually... All-American to boot.
matty ice:
Whether Tired can throw a hell-a-bad party or was on the squash team at UGA is irrelevant.
Saying "8 yrs is enough for CMR" is laugh out loud funny.
I'd bet dollars for donuts that Tired's first Georgia game was w/in the past 5 yrs. If you know so little about college football and so little about our program, this is not the venue to swap barbs and jabs. The Dawg Vent is a far more appropriate place for amateur thinkers.
While I do not agree with Tired completely, serious change is required for our beloved Dawgs to become contenders of any sort. The turnovers and penalties are a great indicator of overall lack of discipline. Have we missed our "window" for a national title? Probably so. Will it open again? Sure, in another 3-5 years. This staff needs to become a little more stern. Try a boot in someone's ass every now and then! We play too soft way too often. Example: ASU hammering our 0-line on every run play Saturday. Man up Dawgs!
I told you guys above, we actually so called "fans" who want UGA to lose. Oh the idiocy of some.
I think you are all a bunch of asshats.
Speaking of asses, I'm fairly sure that PTC DAWG is an ass pirate.
Why is it that when someone voices an opinion, crazy wrong or not, those who disagree begin silly name calling like 3rd graders? What does it matter to you, me or anyone else what Sam from Snellville believes? How many of us are receiving checks cut from the athletic department? It does not take a D-1 head coach to see that this team is seriously flawed. Flaw in multiple areas. Flawed in so many aspects of the game that no one, not even the "experts", can make heads or tails of this squad. This blog is a great site to voice our opinion. Pretty sure no here will be on the sideline drawing up plays, or making ANY decision that will determine the outcome of the game! GATA Dawgs!
The name calling is good too. You just can't hide class. Keep it up Techie...
Just for GA SB future reference
Speaker of the Truth:
Asshat = Hilarious and generally acceptable by most.
Ass pirate = Bad
Everyone else:
Could we get a ruling from the group on "Ass Spelunker"?
@RedCrake
How bout this?
You = Assh*le
@PTC Dawg
I'm not a techie, I just don't like your stupid bullsh*t.
Thanks for your time.
Oh goodness, you've hurt my feeling... I was just trying to help you out with the proper vernacular.
I don't know if I'll be able to sleep tonight knowing that someone thinks I'm an asshole.
