The bad celebration penalty didn't cost us the game. Here's what did: one first down in the first half, no threat of a running game, a missed field goal, terrible kick coverage, and missed tackles. LSU got kicked in the balls with 1:09 left in the fourth. They scored a touchdown in twenty seconds. We then got kicked in the balls with :49 left and threw a pick. LSU got it done. We didn't. The refs afforded both teams opportunities.
If you want to blame Willie, fine. Just remember that Rennie Curran, our best tackler, had Charles Scott at the line of scrimmage and couldn't close the deal. He was in position to make the stop and didn't. Don't blame Willie. Blame Rennie, who absolutely played his ass off, set a career high with 16 tackles, and is our best defensive player. Sometimes, the other guy makes a play.

Good little Bulldogs! Bad officiating never ever costs you the game! It's all your fault! Never ours!
Tee hee! I'm going to keep screwing you FOREVER!
"The bad celebration penalty didn't cost us the game."
If that penalty isn't called, do you believe LSU still wins the game? I don't.
The "But for" Test:
But for... one first down in the first half, could we have won the game?
Well, we were a 1:09 away from winning despite that.
But for...a marginal rushing attack, could we have won the game?
Well, we were a 1:09 away from winning despite that.
But for...the fifteen yard penalty, could we have won the game?
The results indicate we lose if we have to kick from the 15 into the wind w/ 1:09 to go. The Scott TD hurt. A FG after 3 runs for no gain would've hurt just as bad. The damage was done.
actually it was marcus dowtin who got run over
Question:
If we are going to put Logan Gray in to return the kick.....why the hell arent we going for the block. We are just going to call a fair catch.....it makes NO SENSE!!!!
The missed field goal is irrelevant, I think. If we get the field goal, assuming all other things are equal (which they never are), then do we go for it on fourth-and-goal when a FG ties the game?
We have problems all over the place. But hey look at the bright side, last year we were down 31-0 at halftime to Bama, this year we were only down 6-0, who knows maybe the next big game we play at home we will only be down 3-0 at halftime. Keep up the good work bobo!!!
PWD and crew, yall need to link the grit tree on your website! They are great and they have even scooped yall on some big stuff. Respect
www.grittree.wordpress.com
Georgia had chances to win the game, even after the bad call. It's difficult to blame Curran for a missed tackle. LSU was already in FG range and was running the clock out. Our only hope at that point was another blocked FG.
for whatever reason, UGA have always been a whiny lot. from jasper sanks to dj was hurt in 2005, the crying and whining resonates long after the inability to get the job done.
I told many of you back in 2007 that your little stunt in jax was low-class and would haunt you forever. now you all can clearly see that Florida remains the class of this conference, and the nation, while UGA continues its decent into the Donnan years.
You won the battle but now you're losing the war with no end in sight. I don't feel sorry for you all - I despise you and your ways. I want the worst to happen to you. I want FL to win 100-3, which btw they could this year.
You have all that talent, money, support, income, facilities, and yet you continually whine about losing as the swell builds within your program. The fact is, you will never beat FLORIDA consistently, you will never have our caliber of program, you will never win like us, and enjoy being the best.
The feeling of playing for second place must have gotten old these past 20 years. Unfortunately for you, your program is now playing for 3rd and 4th place - just like the 90's.
Days of Donnan here we come!
Schadenfreude. It's what's for desert!
Maybe Holliday runs the kick off back even if UGA is kicking off from the 30. Who knows, but a truly horrible call (substantiated by the SEC office) certainly does not help and was a bad call even if UGA wins (probably is a mere footnote if UGA wins).
Maybe he fumbles the ball trying to make a big play?
Maybe he returns it to the 35 and LSU has to throw the ball rather than being able to run the ball? That changes things.
Lots of chances to win. Defense played well--gave up yards but not points.
Penalties were down (7 for 59 and I think we can really make that 6 for 44). That is a lot of progress!
1 turnover---acceptable. It was also in a situation where you are going to get a lot of interceptions.
Created 1 turnover--not great.
Might have found a RB. Will CMR let him play more? LET THE FROSH PLAY!
Seriously now, how long can Fabris keep his job with special teams?
You forgot missed plays in the passing game--potential 95 yard bomb in the 1st and the missed pitch and catch on 2nd down of the final drive, among others.
Gator Diesel!!!,
Bitter much? It was one game, dude. Get over it. Nah, you're probably right. It definitely shows much more class and superiority to log onto a Georgia blog and take the time out of your day to write an essay about your feelings.
As to the point of Quniton: I agree with this particular game that the one call didn't cost us the game. Not covering that kick cost us the game. However, I have to disagree with the assertion that all those other little things cost us the game, too. Good games come down to little things, yes. But, you can't just say, "Well, we should've done that earlier in the game." While, yes, the sentiment is true, the reasoning is horrible. You shouldn't ever have to say, "Yea, we got screwed on that, but it never should've come to that." The fact is, in those games types of games, it DID come to that. There's no erasing the past. Sometimes, it takes just ONE little thing to win or lose a game in the dwindling minutes of the 4th quarter. I'm tired of people pointing to earlier points in the game which simply do not matter any longer at that point. Again, it doesn't apply here since we still could've covered that kick AFTER the call, but enough with the, "we could've done this and that an hour and a half earlier."
Look, I'm not blaming Rennie for the loss. As I stated, the guy played his ass off and I love him. My point is that if winning is a team effort, so is losing. Coaches, players, everybody.
Bring on the Vols.
an earlier Anon commenter was correct in identifying Marcus Dowtin as the goat for not even coming close to wrapping up Scott.
Rennie is one of the few on the team that holds himself accountable for his mistakes. In his post game presser, he said he had a chance to make the tackle and just didn't come up with the play. When in reality Rennie was being blocked to the ground when he happened to grab Scott's shoes for a split second, slowing him down. Yet Rennie, not Dowtin is the one blaming himself for a tackle that no one could have made anyway
I know the point you are getting at Quinton, but this team needs to start answering for its mistakes bc blaming the coaches can only go on for so long until it's evident the players are lacking discipline in the fundamentals department.
Quinton great comment! Losing is a team effort. The call when AJ scored was bogus and bull, but we had several opportunities to put points up and we didn't. We lost. The excessive penalty deal is rotten and it just added to the frustration. I love rennie Curran and he is wide open all the time. Scott just powered ahead. The penalty sucks, but you should never put yourself in the position for a bad call to mean so much. On the other hand up to the bad call we had played as well as LSU. Just saying.....
Gator Diesel, please get over it and yourself. It was a bunch of kids celebrating, not taunting. It's a game. I do not wish bad on Florida. Root for your team dude and considering the classless bantering that went on between Kiffin and the great Urban Whinner! Please, do not lecture us on class.
To say that Rennie was in position is redonk. It would have been an amazing shoestring tackle had he made it. Dowtin is the guy that missed the tackle. On the other hand, Scott is a huge back and he made a great play to break that tackle. Too bad our backs can't make something out of nothing like that.
Also, anyone saying the call decided the game is wrong. However, saying the call had no impact on the game is equally wrong. Did the call decide the game? No. Did it have an impact on the outcome? Yes.
Anybody notice on the missed kick the fire drill that was going on? We barely got the kick off before the 40 second clock expired. Also on the kickoff to LSU with 1:09 left UGA had walk ons and the backup QB on the field to cover the kick. LSU had run 15 yards before any red shirt appeared. Also LSU had starters and second team players on the field to cover the kick.
If you want to blame anyone blame Fabris. UGA special teams are a damn joke. Kick offs have been trouble for years. We lost to LSU in 2003 after the kickoff following Tyson Brownings TD. This is nothing new. Fabris should have been fired after last year but since he wasn't he should have been fired after the game ended. How long before Richt is forced to make changes because he certainly doesn't appear to have the will to do it unless forced.
Gator Diesel,
Gaytor class:
http://curveballsforjesus.files.wordpress.com/2008/09/jorts-and-natty.jpg
Now lets have a good game on saturday losers...
Although 98% of Gator Diesel's post is the typical pathetic-fan lunacy that darkens the "comments" section of many a football blog (do you HONESTLY think a person's character is determined by the college they attend?), he is right about one thing: Georgia fans whine too much.
A little perspective, folks. This is not the first time we've lost a game. Everyone loses sometimes (even Florida). We were worse than this through the first half of 2007, and that season ended at the Sugar Bowl. Can any of you say that all this arguing and blaming and gnashing of teeth actually contributes to your enjoyment of the game? Relax. Let's see how the next few weeks pan out. Even if this turns out to be more of a 2006 Chick-fil-a Bowl kind of season, we'll be back around the high ground again before too long.
If we do lose a few more, remember this: 'Bama went 6-6 in 2007, lowlighted by a home loss to UL-Monroe. Next year, with many of the same players, they ran the regular season table. Now, they look like the beast of the SEC. Every new season is a fresh, clean slate.
Yeah, Gator Diesel, you may be right, but I'd still much rather be a Dawg!
Fabris must go! The special teams play has killed us all year. Look at this for evidence.
http://dawg-extra.blogspot.com/
Athens Avenger:
I agree with everything you say, with a single exception... I say every GAME is a fresh, clean slate.
Anyone remember the 2007 season? The team looked a little ugly early, 4-2 start could have been 3-3 easily (Alabama).
Right now UGA is not in that bad of a spot for a "rebuilding" year. They could be much, much worse with very little changed about the season. Now they go in to play a weakened UT team that is beatable, a powder-puff Vandy team, and then have a week off. Even with losses to UF and Aub or GT, there could still be a 9 win season with a bowl that is not out of reach.
It suck to not be 4-1 and #11 or 12in the poll, but hey, at least they didnt lose to Maryland....
Gator Diesel:
What pleases me is that the celebration in the end zone in 2007 REALLY bothers you... alot.
I get the "we should've/could've/would've" thingy about the long kick return and 5 yard penalty. Bad stuff on our part. However, football is a game of emotions and momentum and that Green TD electrified the team and the fans. At that moment we were on fire and who the hell knows, Walsh might've kicked the ball out of the back of the endzone on the ensuing kickoff. But then the flag fell, and the air went out of the stadium and the team. I turned to my wife and said "game over." LSU got a huge adrenaline rush and UGA's ass puckered up ("We've got to kick from the 15?!!.) We played tight and blew it. Credit to LSU, but that penalty was far bigger than a lot of the "should've stopped 'em" crowd understand.
Gator Diesel
Please get some psychological help and then get yourself life.
2005 4th and 11 against Auburn wasn't Willie's fault. 2006 Tennessee scoring a million in one half wasn't his fault. 2007 Tennessee running down our throats wasn't his fault. 2008, Alabama (31 in a half), LSU (38), Florida (49), Kentucky (38), Tech (45) - 2009, South Carolina, Arkansas, the collapse in the final two series against LSU with the game on the line...none of it is ever Willie's fault. After all, he's only the guy in charge of that unit. It's always the players, never the guy in charge.....idiocy.
This post should be edited to correct the information. You sound really silly saying Rennie was in position when he wasn't.
Looked like to me Rennie was being held by the center when he couldn't finish the tackle.
Guys, we get it! Rennie is awesome.
Blah, blah, blah. We lost to an SEC team. Whatever. Bring on the Vols and GO DAWGS! It's just a game, we still control our own destiny.
Bitch and moan all we want (I was the first on board to do so, I know, you know, we all are), but it won't change a thing. Let's GATA, SIC 'em, yada yada. All we can do is root and curse, and I think we all do that pretty damn well.
IT'S GO TIME, AND I HATE ORANGE.
The UT game is big, and you shouldn't have to be old to know that. STFU AND LET'S BEAT THE DOGGONE HELL OUT OF THE BIG ORANGE.
Quittin is back!
Come on man...You can suck all game but if you knock a team out in the end, you win. Not all games are decided by a the team with better stats or even coaching. It does happen from time to time.
Would we have won without the penalty? Probably, but I can't say for sure.
Nevertheless, the officials took it out of the players hands. The refs did not afford us anything.
Gator Diesel...A lot of UGA fans used to feel like you did about about your beloved gators when the dawgs routinely whooped your tails..Things change and sometimes quicker than you think.
Quinton,
I certainly appreciate your position not to blame the refs but I have to disagree with you on several points. Having watched the game over again a few times there are some things I would like to challenge you with.
1. The penalty, while not costing us the game because us not scoring points cost us the game, was a major bad thing that was out of the hands of the players. This created momentum for LSU and crushed UGA's. I don't believe that you can say that any of these others things were more significant than that penalty call.
2. On Scott's 33 yard run there were two no calls by the refs. First was Rennie being held by the center unable to reach Scott as he turned the corner. The second was on Evans by #70 who dragged him down to the ground before Scott reached him. It looks like to me when you see the footage had either of those not happened Scott does not score.
3. I don't blame Willie for this game because he was pretty good. The defense as a whole was good. But you can't say that "sometimes the other guy makes a play" and then lay all the problems at the UGA players feet. By your logic it would seem that maybe the one first down in the first half was because LSU was making plays. Or maybe the no threat of a running game was because of the LSU players making plays. Even the missed tackles were the result of LSU players making plays.
I certainly am not above the notion that UGA needs to make plays but you can't categorically say that what cost us the game was isolated to UGA not making plays. Maybe LSU was just that good at making plays.
The reason I point this out is because you are quick to throw away the penalty against AJ as a non essential to the fact that we did not win. It is this to which I disagree.
I believe that if we are going to hold coaches and players accountable for making plays then we should hold refs accountable for "making plays" as well.
Just some observations to make sure that we don't sweep this penalty under the rug and lay it all at UGA's feet. Regardless of what anyone says about us being whiners it is clear that the bad call is a legitimate reason to complain.
We are going to beat you Dawgs like we did in '07. Vols win out, Dawgs beat UF. TN vs. Auburn rematch in the Dome.
Rocky Top, yull always be...home sweet home to me...Good old Rocky Top...Rock Top Tennessee
Lane > Richt
Dawgs always blame the refs!!!
Ya'll guys are the worst fans in the SEC!
Smokey will bite UGA
Ya'll guys treated us bad after that David green game. we dont forget that stuff man. Its' gona to be a damn war Saturday Dog fans. Yall even making the trip??? LOL. Oragne and white!
Make that 3 in a row. Doesn't this failure realize that UT won't even make a bowl this season? He's as delusional as their pathetic head coach.
As a massive fan I have to mostly agree, my only variance would be: Don't blame Rennie, he can't do everything every time, blame our inept kick-off coverage...
Well, at least we know who
the culprit was who tossed the flag on Green thanks to shooter Brant Sanderlin of the AJC. Hope his number is
unlisted. See link.

Replace the phrase "2nd half" with "first half" and this video completely sums up our performance.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zX4ox7aX_wc
My view here is that I am all for owning up to our shortcomings and for heaven's sake, the score is 20 - 13 and will always remain that way. In fact, the call may not have changed the outcome. But it certainly changed how the outcome was played out. 15 yards back and maybe LSU runs the same exact plays and everything is the same. But the fact is field position is probably one of the largest determining factors of who wins and loses, particularly when there is only 69 seconds left. Yes, the kick coverage stunk, our 1st half game offense stunk... fine, and probably LSU deserved to win, if you believe the stats, but that stupid call by the ref changed how LSU was able to play its last 69 seconds. Scott should have never been getting the ball. Anyway, we lost, we deserved it, no cheese with our whining, blah, blah, blah, but that call by that ref in that situation was still way out of line.
It is clear that Washaun knows how to run around people, unlike Samuel.
I see what your angle here is, Quinton. You see how angry/hurt/disenchanted the Dawg Nation is, and you decided to take it upon yourself to type up something so inane that all negative energy will be focused in one spot -- you.
Well played.
(Only reading PWD and Dawgnoxious posts from now on).
Well the chicken shits turned on the comments
+1 Hobnail...I couldn't agree more
The only problem there is that I kept thinking about MJ's catch on that cold night in Auburn. There was 1:25 left in that game. We could have gotten a penalty in that game...and how much of a difference would that have made? A huge difference. If Auburn was afforded good field position to get the tying field goal or go ahead TD, Green & Johnson's program defining moment would have been stolen. Yes, you can stop them. Yes, you can tackle them for a 20 yard return instead of 40. Yes, you can actually line up right on the kick off. But even if we don't do any of those things and the exact same return happens and the exact same penalty, they've got the ball on their side of the 50 and the "have" to put it in the air and that stadium would have been absolutely bonkers. The refs stole that moment from AJ, Joe, and our D. If they beat our D at that moment, fine. But methinks they wouldn't have. One sack essentially ends the game at that point.
On that cold day in Auburn in '02, we played absolutely miserable in the 1st half, mustering 3 points. We missed field goals and looked generally inept on offense. But somehow, we made a run, and produced a miracle when it counted. We had no business winning that game, but we did. We could have done a million things better, but didn't need to because we made the plays we had to. Saturday was much the same. Joe will make some more memories, but the bottom line is that penalty robbed us of talking about that play alongside hobnail boot and MJ's catch vs. Auburn.
I agree with much that's been already noted on this board. However, although I think the offense's performance was horrible except for the 4th quarter, penalties, the defense and special continue to be an ongoing problem. The shoddy kick-off coverage, unprepaed for the FG attempt, illegal formation on the key KO, Logan Gray on punt & kick-off teams, etc. cease to amaze me. Also, did anyone else see that on at least 2 plays we had a LB covering Holiday who was split out wide as a WR. It was Gamble on one play and Curran on another. The play when Curran was covering their fastest WR was the one where the LSU QB (Shepard?) scrambled for 20 yards late in the 4th QTR. Luckily, on both plays the LSU QB didn't try to take advantage of the mismatch. Also, why do our players constantly look like they don't know where they should be lined up - especially in the secondary. I'm also sick of the soft zone we constantly play where we put a LB in front of their slot receiver. WM runs this base defense all the time and teams have figured out how to pick it apart. I agree the defense played much better after the first 2 LSU possessions, but dropped the ball late in the 4th QTR when we needed a stop. The run by Scott was inexcusable. I'd much rather LSU be forced to try a 45 - 50 yd FG attempt than allow a TD.
Wow Gator diesel... you may quite possibly be the gayest person on the internet on this day in history. That means you beat out people like Skip Bayless... and he's a super-fruit. Congrats.
By the way Quinton, I have to disagree. Nobody can say with any certainty that the penalty on AJ didn't cost us the game, just like they can't say that it DID cost us the game. The fact is, it changed the game and the way it had to be played on the following possession. At the least, it put LSU in an advantageous position to score the game-winning points, and that is undeniable. I know you are likely trying to avoid being labeled as a biased blogger, but even guys like Mike Wilbon and Tony Kornheiser have gone on record saying they think it cost Georgia the game. So I think you're safe. Nobody will call you a homer.
With all the attention this bad call has drawn, the officials will revert back to the "Unnecessary Roughness" on Reshad Jones and the Phantom Facemasks on Tebow.
Would someone with more time to research figure out how many of these we get? Just what would I give to just have UFs or USCs luck.
If UGA's coaches are worth a damn they should easily turn this controversy anger into pissed off players that steam roll Tennessee and Vandy into the bye week. If these kids are as pissed as me there shouldn't be any trouble.
Pay no attention to the fact Curran was being blocked in the back and Brian Evans was being horse collared on the play.
Barney Fife ts there to protect us all from the horror of someone celebrating.
It's easy to just remember the Johnson catch, but I also remember throwing multiple items during the course of that game. Nice flashback.
As far as Rennie taking the blame, etc., you have to understand how the post-game interview process works. Sometime during the fourth quarter, the SID staff will hand out slips of paper asking who the various media want them to hold back in the locker room after the game.
They'll generally keep about a dozen, and the starting QB, starting RB, etc., will always be in that group. I would guess Curran would always be in that group as well, and if he's not, he would have been requested by a few media folks for this game.
A guy like Dowtin, on the other hand? No real reason to ask for him. So it probably wasn't a situation of Curran taking the blame and Dowtin not. It was probably a situation of Dowtin not having that opportunity.
You can blame the score on the officiating all you want and i was pissed just like the rest of you, but the real issue is the lack of consistent offense since Bobo too over as OC. I honestly think the defense has held up remarkably well considering the spot (turnovers on short fields and three and outs) the offense keeps putting them in. Bobo just isn't getting the job done, i can't help but wonder how last year would have turned out if CMR had waited to turnover the OC duties.
I don't blame the refs for our loss, I blame them for doing a bullsh*t job all day long.
Their ineptitude was vomit inducing.
My biggest fear is that after the emotion of this game we will settle in for our patented once a season choke job and get steamrolled by TN on Saturday.
But TN has no offense you say...don't worry the D will have another unfortunate letdown after a tough week and we will get the apologies again that they weren't coached up after the loss. Yuck.
I sure hope they aren't caught flat because they are looking ahead to Vandy the next week (said with intense sarcasm and disillusion)
Perspecitve from a Buckeye fan (what can I say, we're everywhere)...
The call was absolute dogshit and yes, it did change the game. Did it cost UGA the game? Probably. But even if it didn't it is still a terrible call. It's a call that hurts college football overall.
Also, AJ Green is the best player in college football this year AIAEC.
In most cases, I would agree about a call not being directly responsible for a loss. Bad calls, generally speaking, are a part of the game and every team has to face them.
But in this case, you couldn't be more wrong. There is absolutely no question that call at that particular stage of the game put Georgia in a horrible situation it would not have faced otherwise. And given the timing, there was no opportunity for the scales to even themselves (as we all know officials are prone to do, whether they admit it or not).
Sorry, but you've got your head in the sand on this one.
Quinton- I completely disagree with you. Paul and Dawgoxious ALWAYS have far superior post than you do. Get a clue man!
Iam amazed that CWM is still taking a beating.CSS and CMB should be quesioned.Let Gray play some .RS is a great linebacker ...move him.Fabris will never "get it".
The biggest play of the game was a penalty that did not have to be called, recognized in print, radio, the internet, and TV nationwide, and for which the conference office has admitted was incorrect. You prefer to blame a linebacker that was held on the play. Poor.
Blaming the players doesn't work at the college level. Never has, never will.
Hey simpleton, how about blaming the coach who had only one of our defenders in position to make the friggin' play?
Rob--you're wrong. UGA has averaged more points, more first downs and had a higher 3rd down conversion % since Bobo took over from Richt. I have the data in a spreadsheet if you want it. You're having hindsight bias and forgetting how craptastic some of Richt's play calling was in 2003, 2004, and ESPECIALLY 2006.
Dead-on, tri guy. Bobo has had his struggles, specially SC 2007 and Okie State this year, but there's a lot of revisionist history going on here. There was a time, not so long ago, when we HAD to win with defense because Richt's play calling couldn't generate more than two TDs a game. And that's not a slight on Richt...I love the guy as a head coach. Just sayin'...let's keep it honest, here.
sorry about the typos, was in a rush...
Only reading Paul and Dawganoxious post from now on. Quinton is a JOKE!!
A quick statistical analysis of UGA penalties since 2000
http://heavylifting.blogspot.com/2009/10/are-uga-fans-crazy-or-are-we-being.html
The game in Knoxville is huge fellers. We had better get down to serious business and forget about referees.
I am as disappointed as any Bulldog fan out there but we still have a real chance at 9-3 and there could always be a miraculous 10-2.
But right now all we need to concern ourselves with is Tennessee.
You nailed this one Quinton. And man do people get pissed when you interrupt their pity party :-)
Siding with the tri guy on this one. There's a reason that people point out that Van Gorder's defenses held so many of our opponents under three touchdowns: it's because it was often necessary for us to win. Other than some strange calls, my biggest gripe about Bobo is that he has that stupid-ass sprint draw that NEVER GOES FOR ANY SIGNIFICANT YARDAGE in the playbook.
Not to say that I think Bobo is in the upper echelon of OCs, but lots of people seem to be forgetting how relieved many fans were that Richt was finally passing playcalling duties off to someone in 07. We've always had headscratching games on offense.
I'm glad that I wasn't the only one who saw Evans get thrown to the ground. That being said he hasn't made many plays this year so he probably would've missed the tackle.. He would have however, slowed him down enough for Branden Smith to make the play.
Listen. Scott is a big back and Dowtin, who I love, got trucked but it was because he wasn't there fast enough to get his feet set.. Similar to Bo Jacksons trucking of Bosworth. Dowtin wasntgoing forward he was losing ground when he got there, this is a situation where Scotts size comes into play. If it was a smaller back the tackle is made.
If Cox shits the bed in the first quarter next week put it Gray although I don't think they have any faith in him... If they did he'd of seen the field by now, and I mean MEANINGFUL SNAPS; also give Washaun the ball and see what he can do and try to get Thomas the ball in space
I vote we move on.
I love comments like Quinton's, the ol' "we should have done X, Y, and Z better, and THEN we would have won!!!oneoneone!111!". This argument is so tiring, because you can apply it to every single game, ever. If we had done this, that, and the other... win!
The problem is, we don't play perfect football, and sometimes a call like this will absolutely ruin a game. You can say we needed to make plays, because we did, but you cannot ignore the fact that spotting them 15 yards with a minute remaining is debilitating. Our defense was already exhausted from having to save our asses from three and outs in the first half, and didn't need to lose that 15 yards. Kicking off to "the fastest man in the US" is already scary enough as it is, giving him a sweet cushion? Even scarier.
So blame whatever you want, but I am going to still say that the refs took away a memory that could have been one of the greatest in Georgia history. If you truly agree with this sort of mindset, then I suppose the game where Jasper fumbled, we should have worked harder beforehand.
I would like to add that with all of this being said, we can't change the outcome so let's all move on.
Regardless of what or who we want to blame, we can't go back and change the result.
Let's beat some Tenn ass.
