Knowshon didn't get flagged for the cell phone thing at the LSU student section (and then some more sections after that). A few weeks later, Sarah Jessica Parker Wilson did the same thing and got hit with the unsportsmanlike from Penn Wagers. Good jorb, guys.
Why is it that we hold Knowshon in such high regard? What did he actually accomplish during his brief stay in Athens? He was extremely talented, but did he develop into a great runner? He was on the sideline after every big play. Sure, he had the great dive into the endzone at ASU on national tv. And there was the leap over Central Michigan. Other than 1, I repeat ONE, game in Jacksonville, what did he do to earn such high praise. Remember, he too was a member of that unmotivated 08 team. He was so good that he played how much as a freshmen? I think we are looking back with rose colored glasses. Tim Worley was much better that Knowshon!

Without KM, we don't beat UF in 07. Go look at the first score in that game. The line blocks down and right with little effect. KM reverses field and scores left. He was the catalyst to that game and overall season.
Against SC in '07, we likely win if Bobo had handed him the ball w/ regularity. Twice KM leads us down the field and twice in the redzone Bobo takes him out and starts throwing.
The reason he was off the field frequently last yr was b/c he ran AND BLOCKED with 100% effort. Blocking is something most College RB's don't grasp. KM did.
And '08 was defined as much by poor defense against Tech and Stafford's errant throws against UF as anything else. If Jones and Ellerbee tackle, we beat Tech. If Stafford doesn't throw a pick 6 (on first drive of 3rd QTR?) against UF, its a different game.
I notice some great blocks at the second level by a fullback on those sweet Knowshon runs. We need our fullbacks to get back to that standard of performance to help out Samuel and King.

As for his 100% effort, are you saying that the majority of backs that remain in games without pulling themselves out are lacking in effort? What about the praise CMR heaps upon King for his blocking skills? Does he too fail to give 100% effort. As for SC 07, we were incapable of running the ball period, regardless of the back. KM led us to a Sugar Bowl and the first season we'd beaten Fla, Auburn & Tech in the same season since '82. I'd say that was pretty special.
Hampton & Worley led us to a Gator Bowl win and Hampton led us to a peach bowl loss. Hearst led us to a Citrus Bowl win. KM led us to a Citrus (Capital One) Bowl win and it was called a dissappointment because he had made our expectations so high. It was fun to watch #24 for 2 years.
sugardaddy...Those are great points. However, it does not mean that KM was the most dynamic back since #34 as pointed out by an earlier anon. We have had some incredible back in Athens. Knowshon was good, but far from great. Exciting, yes. The best since Walker? No. The Sugar Bowl in 07 was not due to an SEC championship.
You guys are nuts! Apparently the saying absence makes the heart grow fonder is true with ya'll. What did 24 due that was so incredible? He was an over hyped back due to his flash! All style and no substance! Hundred yard games. Check. Sport Center highlights. Check. Ability to dominate game after game. Hell No!

On top of that he brought a swagger and an energy level the Dawgs have not since since. If TN loses to Vandy or UK like they should have in late 07. We would have beaten LSU in the SEC Championship Game and we would have won the NC. All of that could not have been done without KM. Put that in your pipe a smoke it.

NRBQ...I believe that we do get that inspiration from AJ. He may not by the rah rah guy every play, but I think that he energizes the team with his nutty catches. As for KM's sprinting back to the huddle, I was always of the believe that was more for show and camera mugging than anything else. Yes, he did get the team fired up with his antics, but I simply viewed this as a self serving ploy above all else. I may be wrong, but that's how I felt.

Knowshon went over 100 on just 14 carries that day vs SC in 07.
Take away the 50 yarder, and he is still over 4 yards a pop...hardly "incapable of running the ball"

Thanks for the correction. A.J. rocks, but he sorta works alone.
I was thinking more of inspiration from the QB or RB.
All of KM's team-mates gave his energy and zest props for providing buoyancy for the whole team.
The offense perhaps couldn't ride him like #34, but watching him bounce up and run at a 4.6 clip back to the huddle provides contagious enthusiasm.
Lest we forget, he left as a sophomore.
