Maybe those pictures from Talladega a few years back said more than we thought. Cox passed out in the middle of the day laying on the ground was a sign that he is always in over his head. While Stafford is lifting kegs with chicks all over him.

I’ve seen a lot of games and I’ve seen some losses where we were just overmatched. I’ve seen losses where we didn’t play well. But I have never seen anything like what I saw Saturday.

When I looked at the field I saw Ray Goff back on the sidelines. I saw a head coach that does not have his team’s attention. I saw an undisciplined team that lacked passion, sense of urgency, and a killer instinct. I saw a group of seniors that have done nothing but consume the program’s resources. I saw a defensive coordinator that is overmatched. I saw a special teams coach that is mentally ill. Worse, I saw a team and coaching staff that was afraid of Kentucky. That fear is a cancer and the cancer must be removed from the program. No matter who Richt gets now it won’t matter because the problems run too deep in the program. The time to fire Martinez was last year. It is too late. The cancer has spread everywhere. Now Richt and all the rest of the coaches must go for the long term good of the program.

Do you Dawg fans still believe you are an elite program?

It's cool though, you play in the SEC.

That was the only fear you saw, anon 3:13.

Fear will do fascinating things to people. It will find every ounce of passion and heart you have.

Our players have no fear of losing their position to a younger/better player. Our coaches have no fear of losing their jobs. Our head coach has no fear of being called into the AD's office.

Good Lord. Enough with the drama and all this talk about "cancer" blah blah blah. I guess Oklahoma has the cancer too, huh? We have a poor defense with young talent that needs new leadership--which will be given in the offseason when Richt hires a new DC. We have a fill-in QB (thanks to having a QB leave early) who has turned out to be not nearly as good as we hoped. We have an extremely talented QB waiting in the wings, and we have a boatload of young talent--Houston, Boykin, Smith, Charles, Ealey, Green, TK, Abry Jones, Washington, Dowtin, Williams, Rambo, Murray, Wooten...
Some of you fools need to realize that college football runs in cycles. You build to 1 or 2 years where you look to make a run (which we did in 2007 finishing #2 in the country, narrowly missing out on a shot at the whole enchilada, and came up short on in 2008). This year is not, and never was going to be (once the defections took place), one of those years. Next year probably won't be, but the year after that might be. Cycles, fellas, cycles. If we look awful next year, then maybe all you drama queens will be justified in coming out, but you're not right now. Get over yourselves.

SCdawg said...

anon 3:45,
is florida the exception to "cycles"?

before today, i thought bobo should be able to stay and only defensive coaches should be fired. i have changed my mind. read this on a blog.

"In the shotgun, if Cox lines up with his feet square and shoulder width apart, he’s going to hand it off. If he lines up with his right foot a step behind his left, he’s going to pass."

JaxDawg said...

SCDawg,
I don't think Florida is immune to cycles and they could start a downtrend as soon as next year. Have they been the beneficiary of great coaching, talent, and support for 20 years? Hell yeah, but few teams, and I mean very few, have lightning strike twice in the same place. Do NOT look for them to keep this up.

As for Bobo, I can't say that Florida's Steve Addazio is adored by the Gators and surely isn't any better or worse than Bobo. But hey, he's got Tebow and a great defense to hide behind. Give him what Bobo has to work with this year (or Dan Mullen for that matter) and you'll see their true colors.

In short, my problem isn't with Bobo - it's with our flicted ass special teams and utterly shitty defense. Fix these two demons and you've got a champion. Well, that and get Murray on the field.

SCDawg,

Have you been around a while? Florida had 4 losses in 07 last I checked. They had several seasons like this in the Zook era. My God, what insanity.

We have real issues that need addressing. But some of you drama queens are making it sound like we just lost to LA Monroe or something. Sheeesh

Can anybody provide a link to the Cox/Stafford picture mentioned in the first post?

Anon 345 -- your anger is so misplaced it is nearly comical. Maybe you need to get over YOURSELF.

No rational fan thought that this was going to be a year where we contend for the national championship. But everyone to a man thought that it would be a season where we at least CONTEND with our competition.

The numbers do not lie, our penalties are atrocious, our kickoff team couldn't cover my uncle, we let South Carolina more than double their SEC scoring average, Mt. Ryan Mallet went for a career best 400+, and let Auburn's Chris Todd tear us up on the opening 2 drives and those were in WINS, btw.

We made Crompton look like he should be on currency, let Tebow have his way with us to the tune of 10 or 12 points more that their SEC scoring average, and we lost at home on senior day to Kentucky.

The on-field product is bad, and no one in upper middle management is doing anything about it.

It is sad that our Dawgs have so many issues that we are unable to pick just one as the root of such a disappointing season. With so many issues at hand, where do we turn? CRM. We know that he will not tell the fans what we want to hear during the season. What I hope to hear is the sound of change once this season mercifully comes to an end. The problem is that there are so many areas to correct, where does he begin? This will be an interesting off season. One in which I hope CMR steps up to the plate and takes control of our program.

King IBM,
All you've done is re-inforce my point. You've highlighted that this year was fraught with youth, poor defense, and poor QB play. Improve the QB and the defense and things improve dramatically. I think we will do both of those things next year and the year after.

firing willie will fix just about everything and is priority #1. (#2 is fix special teams)

JaxDawg,
i hope u r right about uf.

As bad as Martinez is, after this last game, I think Fabris is even worse, if that is possible. Talk about being co-dependent.

'We have an extremely talented QB waiting in the wings.'

Why? WHY?

We played Stafford as a freshman, and the next year he led us to within a hair of the national title game. The year after that, he was the No. 1 draft pick.

We didn't play Moreno as a freshman, and so we had him for two years.

The argument here has often been that the coaches know best, and that Murray would be playing if he were good enough. I would think that in the past month we might have seen some evidence that our coaches don't always know best. And for God's sake, we just turned the ball over four times in the second half and blew a 14-point lead to Kentucky.

Unless Murray actually sets Uga's doghouse on fire, I have a hard time seeing how he could be any worse.

SCdawg said...

anon 6:47,
murray has been hurt early in the year and he is being redshirted. its way too late to pull his redshirt. its either cox or gray and gray hasn't looked too good from what we have seen so far. therefore, in this case, i must say the coaches are right.

Ryan said...

anon 6:47,

it's also the fact that without any kind of established running game (a la Richard Samuel and a crappy O-line), a freshman qb would be eaten alive. Also being thrown out there in a losing situation is what kills the potential of so many college stars in the nfl. Let both Murray and Met have a year to sit there and learn how the game is "supposed" to be managed and prepared for. I think Murray gives us a huge change to win in the future and I'm willing to sacrifice a year to get there.

Skeptic Dawg said...

SCdawg and Ryan...You guys are nuts. Exactly how much worse could the season have been if we had played ANY other QB? We do not know what Gray or Murray were capable of this season. I am just as disappointed as the next guy that CMR and staff stuck with Cox. A change should have taken place several weeks ago. Anon. 6:47, and myself included, place zero faith in CMR and staff at this point. That being said, we are stuck with what we have for now.

I believe Tennessee Tech could very well be the only win we would have right now had we gone with any other QB on the roster.

I don't blame Joe Cox for all of the disappointments of this season. I think going into the game he was ranked 5th among SEC QB's. Not the best but certainly not the worst.

Surrounded by kids and an extremely disappointing offensive line I think he has done the best he could with what he had to do with.

Everything came unglued in the 4th quarter against Kentucky. The team. The coaches. The fans. It was a complete meltdown.

But this "if only Logan had played all year" bullshit is just that.

Bullshit.

Anonymous said...

Anon 932- I'll grant you that the Auburn game would have probably been a loss, but I think Murray/Gray would have still won against Carolina, Arkansas, AZ St, Vandy, and TT. Most importantly, they would not have had the bonehead turnovers that Cox had in the Kentucky game. His last interception was absolutely brutal.

Anonymous said...

I don't care about the chance to win. If we are going to play a rookie (potentially crappy) QB, I'd much rather have him start a QB that can have a future impact on the team. Joe Cox doesn't have what it takes to lead this team to victory. Do we know if Gray/Murray do? No, but I'd rather have them lose games and get experience so we don't have the first game jitters next year. I thought CMR learned his lesson about keeping people redshirted too long with Moreno.

SCdawg said...

MURRAY WAS HURT. u cant start a true freshman qb when they are injured people!

if he wasn't? yes he should have been given a shot after tennessee.

and you have seen gray...

the qb wouldn't matter if we had the defense, special teams, and running game that we should. we are really talking about 3rd priority at this point.

Richt must go and replaced with Muschamp. Richt must be fired after Saturday's loss to Tech.

Not playing AM is not about this season. It's about next season. One could argue by not playing him this season, one he'll be more comfortable in our offense next year and two we don't risk him going out there in that mess and either getting hurt or even worse, losing all confidence. Of course you could say it would be beneficial to play him this season so he could have some gametime experience but that's a judgement call for the coaches. I bet five if JC didn't have that South Carolina game and then the arkansas game he would not be playing. He had a game early in the season and the more he had, the less it made sense to burn a redshirt.

we let South Carolina more than double their SEC scoring average, Mt. Ryan Mallet went for a career best 400+,

Thing is, Mallet is the best pure passer in the SEC. The dude's a monster and had a field day with our O. Also, not sure if you've been paying attention but Garcia has turned in some damn fine performances. Just saying, these qb's are no slotches. Crompton, however, is. I just hope that Richt watches the UT game over and over and over after the season when he doubts himself re firing Willie.

Anonymous said...

Stoops might be available. Oh wait, the Sooners might also be 6-6 by Sunday. Hmmmm, fire Pete Carrol and fire Les Miles blogs have been set up as well.

Until someone can tell me who the replacement is and what his qualifications are, I would consider any call for Richt's job to be "lunatic fringe" stuff. And believe me, one way to fracture the Bulldawg nation like nothing ever before would be to fire Mark Richt after this one season.

As of last week, Crompton actually led the SEC in touchdowns throws. Who woulda thunk it.
