Suck it Nerds. Dawgs Win!
I love college basketball. I love Georgia, and I love winning. God Bless America. Georgia defeated Tech 73-66 in basketball tonight. The Jackets and Paul Hewitt were grossly out coached by Mark Fox, and the Bulldog players played as well as possible in the victory.
Tech probably has four or more NBA players on their roster, and we...well...don't. But we have a coach now. And we don't lose to Tech in Athens. Period.
As a friend texted me post-game. "Dear Dave Braine and Mark Carmony. Thanks for Hewitt's contract." Tech will owe Hewitt $5-6 million if they terminate him, and they don't have that sort of cheese laying around.
This was a big win for Coach Fox. He needed to show that the program has life in it. That we can play entertaining basketball again. That we can build a winner here. Tonight was directionally what the program needs to move forward and put the ugly past six years slowly into the rear view mirror.
Buy a ticket. Come watch the team. There will be nights on the road in SEC play where we look lost and confused (like the Missouri game on Saturday), but there's also going to be nights in Athens where much more talented teams will tumble just like Tech.
Why? Because we're well coach, and we play a smart brand of basketball that's fun to watch. Get to Athens and give 'em a chance.
More later, when I'm not so giddy. Oh...and GO HAWKEYES!

Hobnail High Top.
CMF blew the lid off tonight. There will still be setbacks, but the geeky little dude can coach.
We'll get there.
Suck. It. Nerds.
30-24. 73-66.
Who runs this state? We do.
Hahaha....perhaps your best opening lines ever. Great job by the coaches & players. Suck it Nerds.
Welcome to Georgia, coach Fox!
The football analogy for the nerds, on the other hand, has to be Quincy in Columbia.
Which is to say: Rilly, I mean rilly, what are we doing here?
And a crotch bomb of a contract. Ouch -- it burns.
love me schadenfreude.
Double suck it Nerds!
Iowa 24 - Nerds 14.
"What bowl are you guys playing in? We're in the Orange Bowl!"
Pathetic.
Can't wait for Perno's boys to start where the rest of the Dawgs left off.
Was McPhee(sp?) trying to steal Cox's title as worst passer in Athens? But seriously, great game from him and the rest of the hoop dawgs. I've been waiting for a reason to cheer for these guys and I think CMF finally gave it to me. AND Tech just lost to Iowa. I'll sleep well tonight knowing IT'S GREAT TO BE A GEORGIA BULLDOG!
"I RUN THIS STATE."
I am KICKING myself for not making it out to the game tonight. I tried to get a friend to go with me but to no avail. Instead I watched the Nerds get dominated in the orange bowl... which was also entertaining, but not as much as watching them lose to us in hoops would have been.
Any idea if we will be able to watch this online at some point?
Let's see... I didn't go to Tech, but if my addition is correct that's a whole whopping 10 points for the vaunted Paul Johnson OH MY GOD IT'S SO AWESOME! offense in two bowl games.
Gentlemen,
The proper pronunciation is:
NYERDS!!!!!!
This is just fantastic

Way to crap the bed twice in one night, nerds. Couple of things for you anonymous clownshoes that are undoubtedly trolling here -
1 - The forward pass was legalized over 100 years ago. you might consider incorporating it as one of your three 'options'.
2 - Other teams are allowed to run the ball for positive yardage as well. Tackling them would be a swell idea.
3 - If you're going to swipe jerseys from an NFL team, you might follow Iowa's lead and steal from a storied and feared franchise like they did with the Steelers look. Cribbing from a 1-15 Rams team is probably not the best of ideas, but hey, you guys recruited Reggie Ball too...
We run this state.
@The Watch Dawg, I think that you can watch the replay on ESPN360.com or you can wait a day or two and possibly be able to watch it on the SEC Digital Sports Network website
the student ticket problem needs to be solved. hundreds of students were waiting outside for tickets during the game because the student ticket system is so flawed. even students who had pre-purchased tickets had to wait in the insanely long lines. georgia doesn't want big crowds at basketball games evidently.
WD,
Try Secsports.com
They put the football games online (sans bowls), so they might have hoops too.
By the way, I just want to be one of the first to say that Norm Parker (Iowa DC) should be on our list of candidates!
GT had a pcik 6 for their first score, so the O was responsible for only 7 points
Here's a good writeup by David Hale.

Oh yes, suck it, nerds, suck it. If the Hoop Dawgs had rebounded better and not blown a few dunks, that game would have been a double digit victory.
Re: Orange Bowl. I was really impressed with Iowa's defense. Nesbitt and Dwyer could barely get a yard, and Nesbitt had zero time to throw when he actually tried it. And Tech's unis were an abortion. The old gold helmets actually looked good, why mess with them? What the hell is that new color?
Well, this just goes to show you that the triple option is a play, not a playbook. But GT doesn't get that sort of thing. Anyone remember back when Tenuta was running GT's defense and their defensive "scheme" was the zone blitz? Nice play but it's not a way of life. Maybe next time Tech can come up with a Plan B? You know, in case your first play doesn't work.
FWIW, Wes Durham was gushing over the new unis on the radio.
Gimmick offense, gimmick togs. Sad.
lol. what kind of loser says "suck it"? been watching too much wrasslin, son.
