Da'Rested

I have been all over this on twitter all day. Wasn't in a position for most of the day to access this site. Have been having a blast with the idiocy of this story.

On Twitter the guy you need to be following is Wes Rucker. He's the Vol beat writer for the Chattanooga Free Press. He broke the story last night, and he's been all over it all day.

Allow me to gloat over my comment several months ago, when Da'Rick was still committed to UGA....If your son's first name has two capital letters in it HE'S GOING TO JAIL!

Nu'Keese Richardson, Da'Rick Rogers, LaMichael James....I'm just sayin!

Paul funny how you will tweet and blog all day about the misfortunes of other teams. Then get quiet when adversity comes to the dawgs. We both know that this is overblown and your sour grapes toward an 18 year old kid who changed his commitment from your school is obvious.

Thanks Jackson and King. As soon as the spotlight shifts to Knoxville...

Did you see the facebook photos on Deadspin of Da'Rogers? Seriously, what the hell is he doing with that girl? You are a top recruit, an athletic guy and the best you can do is a porkchop you picked up while having dinner at Sonny's BBQ.

Looks like the dipshits are us-- again. Interesting how ESPN beats all of the blog sites to our own arrest record, but our bloggers are happily decrying the stupidity of others.

'Bout time you bloggers started insisting this stuff stopped.

And just when things are starting to calm down, I read that two more Georgia players were arrested for alcohol related offenses.

This team is just bound and determined to win the Fulmer Cup this year

Dontavious Jackson and Tavarres King in trouble. Dontavious especially.

and this is why we should never gloat about others' players getting arrested: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=5369358

Don't make fun of other schools disciplinary problems, because Georgia always finds a way to keep up. This is coming from a Georgia fan BTW. I'm just saying that Georgia players can't keep their G** D*** hands out of the cookie jar. We are as bad as it comes regarding discipline amongst players.

Tavarres King and Dontavius Jackson arrested. underage possession and underage DUI,respectively.

You would think that Damon Evans' recent arrest might have had an impact.

Idiots. Sheer idiots. Dump them for being too stupid to be in college.

Just when I was getting excited about being able to bash Tennessee fans over this, King and Jackson had to get themselves arrested. Still, there's a world of difference between underage possession (which at least 75% of the population of the United States has violated) and beating up bar patrons and police officers.

Give Dooley some credit, though. He took immediate action on the players involved, except Rogers, and I suspect that will happen as soon as he gets more info.

This was from the Calhoun times

Sandy Morton, who owns Bar Knoxville with her husband, told the Chattanooga Times Free Press they've never had any problems from Vols players. She said many of the players, who are treated as VIPs and don't have to pay a cover charge, are on a first-name basis with her husband."I don't know what happened, but several of the guys started beating up the other customer,"

Isn't that an NCAA rules violation?

Why did Auburn steal our song?

Sadly, we learn we have our own Da' Problems. Drunk in a car. Look guys I was in Athens from 76-80, stuff went on then too, but the times have changed. Back then most stuff went straight to Dooley and he handled it. Now,society has just changed. Folks just are tired of what they perceive as athletes who have God given talent and are given the chance to play a sport with college paid for with their efforts, waste it. I truly don't resent these kids and I want them to do well. But, my kid is in Athens and she works her asre off! She has a job and close to a 4.0. She is going to graduate early and apply to law school. Smart kid, but the competition for academic scholarships is brutal. I am losing sympathy for these idiots who obviously can't afford a damn taxi. Maybe the NCAA should cut us some slack and let us pay for cabs. I am just tired of being the laughing stock of my block. My neighbors are in this order: Auburn, Alabama, Penn State, South Carolina, Florida. I ain't having too much fun right now.

The players that get in trouble are almost always underclassmen. Why aren't the seniors huddling everybody up and saying "hey, ya'll are f*cking up our senior season and we're not having that sh*t. Every time one of you dumbsh*ts gets arrested it could affect our win-loss record and my draft position. Tighten up or get the f*ck out!"

Chris S said...

Dubb, the reason more underclassmen get in trouble is because they are also underage. If this had happened to Tavares King in a few months, it would be a non-issue because he'd be 21. He didn't get drunk and do something stupid (well, perhaps getting into a car with Dontavious, but that's not a crime)--for all we know, he didn't even get drunk. But it's a crime for a 20-year-old kid to drink a beer.
