Awesome!
Props to REM!
It'd be even greater if the song was about Athens; instead, it's about New Orleans.
I think REM would tell you that their songs are art. It might have been written about New Orleans, for New Orleans and performed is support of New Orleans, but used in this context, it is about Athens. That is what is great about art. It can be what you want it to be.
It is part of the American way to support art and that art is all about what you want it about. Are you saying it can't be what I want it to be about? Are you against that?
Are you against America?
In all seriousness, I talked to the guys doing the spot and they felt it was the perfect song. REM was happy to consent to the use of the song. The song is about how everything fundamentally changes when you leave a place and how you can't get that back, but also how that part of it always lives because of what you live everyday. Looking at it that way, it is the perfect song.
Whatever. Win some damn football games and most of all, BEAT FLORIDA.
Unbelievable. UGA actually put out a commercial that doesn't look like it was made by a middle-school a.v. club...
Please fix the Seth Emerson link. His blog moved a while ago...
It is awesome.
I'm ready to run out of the tunnel.
GO DAWGS!
