Notes from around the SEC

Tennessee QB coach not worried about inconsistency: "By no means am I panicking. They're good players. We've got a bunch of good players in my meeting room, and they work hard and they've got the right mentality. It's just a matter of coming out and performing day in and day out."
-Considering last season's poor QB play against all teams not named UGA, this is something to watch. I'd have thought Justin Worley is the prohibitive favorite, but it is looking like that might not be the case.

Vernon Hargreaves knee is injured, but not seriously: "I was told immediately it was a bone bruise," Muschamp told reporters on Friday. "There was no, knee was stable and there was absolutely zero issues."
-No reason to think Agent Muschamp is making it up, but Hargreaves is the one player on defense Florida can't lose on defense.

Tre Mason will be tough to replace at Auburn, but coaches like the two guys in the running: "Since fall camp began last week, Auburn running backs coach Tim Horton said the senior duo have clearly separated themselves from the trio of competitors."
-Corey Grant and Cameron Artis-Payne combined for 1200+ yards spelling Mason last year, so they both can be very good. I'll be interesting to see if Auburn uses a platoon for them instead of giving a vast majority of touches to just one as they did with Mason last year.

LSU's defense suffers huge loss to injury: "Defensive tackle Quentin Thomas is expected to miss the 2014 season with a torn biceps, a source told The Advocate on Friday."
-LSU was counting on Thomas to provide some expeirence anchoring their Dline. Now they'll rely on guys with little or no playing time.

Matty Mauk is the man for Missouri at QB, but back up Printz is looking good: "Redshirt freshman QB Eddie Printz stood in the pocket well and delivered a strike down the field to redshirt freshman TE Jason Reese for a long gain up the middle..."
-Mauk came in during the Georgia game when starter James Franklin went out with a shoulder injury. Suffice it to say there was no drop off when he did. Printz could be that guy for Missouri again, as the Tigers run an offense that puts the QB in harms way at times.
