Harrick Saga finally behind UGA

Predictably, the Harrick legal mess is finally over. An Atlanta court threw out all the remaining works of fiction that the Harricks put together and referred to as "complaints."

Two of my all-time least favorite people associated with UGA.

Although, I do find it funny that the Harrick's legal problems aren't over. Now their own lawyer is suing them for defamation of character.

If they had kept their mouths shut instead of being the petty, small, vindictive people that they are, both of them would already be back coaching college somewhere.

The sad footnote in all of this...Mike Adams never got fired for any of it.

Gotta disagree with your headline Paul.. and your last sentence only tells part of the lingering effects the Harrick situation have had on the team.

It's still affecting everything from recruiting to TV coverage to scheduling, etc.

I disagree with you hobnail.

While Harrick's may have some degree of effect on the program, it's not all the substantial other than residual effects still lingering from decisions Dennis Felton made his first couple years in. This is his program, with his players, and perception all around him. While the Harrick's may impact the program slightly with regard to perception, mainly nationally with those whose familiarity with basketball is what the national media feeds them, it doesn't have much of an effect at all on any of the things you mention in my opinion.

This is Dennis Felton's program, has been for near 5 years now, and many people are fully aware of that fact.

Begger - don't jump the gun too much. we're only entering Felton's 4th year.

There are no perception issues natinally related to Harrick, and there are certainly no scheduling issues related to him. But we're still feeling the effect of his recruiting.

And we're still digging out of his hole.

In other words, you're both partially right.

Vincent J. Dooley.

Just thought I would put that in, that when Jim Harrick Senior came to Vince and asked Vince to go around the UGA Admissions Office for Tony Elasco Cole, Vince said no. So, Michael F. Adam$ gave Tony Cole a Presidential Admit to UGA going around the Admissions Office.

That when Jim Harrick Senior come to Vince and asked Vince to go around the State Nepotism Law for little Jimmy Harrick Junior, Vince again refused - again as we all know. So, Michael F. Adam$ hired Jimmy Harrick Junior, put him in charge of teaching a class and fired that Department Head when it came to light at the now infamous Press Meeting "How was I to know," Michael F. Adam$ said at the Press Conference, "what is going on in all my classes here at UGA as there are a lot of classes and I didn't know myself personally," Michael F. Adam$ tried to wimp out to the players - every single one of which other than his Presidential Admit Tony Cole had a B Average, didn't need the class, and were told by Michael F. Adam$' hire Jimmy Harrick Junior that they had to take the class.

Then, of course after the Press Conference, the B Average students all went to our infamous president Michael F. Adam$ home we provide him and he calls the Police on them, only to be forced by the Police to go out and face the B Average students - who certainly know where the blame is - thus, we all keep the pressure on Michael F. Adam$ until he takes his lonely butt out of here.

And, that when Michael F. Adam$ refused to renew the 41-year old contract for the Number 1 Athletics Department in the SEC for 3 of Vince's last 6 years in the then called Sears Directors' Cup www.NACDA.com then Michael F. Adam$ tried to blame Vince and make him the fall guy, only to endear Vince to us all more, and further implicate the our president in this mess that goes on to this day, leaving a program that had been to post season tournaments, Final 4, NCAA Tournaments, SEC Championship, in a gym half the size and twice the age of other school's basketball gym, in total disarray.

We were 15-15 last season, beating no good team, not one good win. We have no Center for next year, cannot shoot the ball out of a wet paper bag and took the single most shots of any SEC Team, missing the highest percentage of missed shots.

When Adams$ and Vince at the Press Conference said we would give up that year's games, Tony Cole played not one minute of one game.

We recruited players then who could shoot, or taught them how to shoot.

And, as we all recall, when all of this mess that has killed our Program began, Vince had narrowed down the list to a short list of coaches and had specifically considered Jim Harrick Senior and told us all – as Vince told us all that he refused Harrick Senior's request of Vince to go around the Admissions Office for Tony Cole and as Vince told us all that he had refused to go around the State Nepotism Law for Harrick Junior – that he Vince would not hire Harrick Senior that he had too much baggage.

So, Harrick Senior did as he did on all occasions and went to his buddy to get Michael F. Adam$ to force Vince to hire him.

Thus, after 41 years of great success in every effort of Vince for UGA, it was all Vince's fault.

Why again are we rubbing salt in this wound after the woebegone shooting of our team, every player of which was recruited by Dennis Felton and every player of which was taught how to shoot to take the most shots in the SEC and to make the worst percentage thereof.

The perception of this Program is that it is in an old gym over 50 years old that was built by The Agriculture Department on Agriculture School Property proper and which was designed to be a Cow Palace with 10,000 seats.

That we never were any good, and frankly we did better than Tech did before Michael F. Adam$ himself and no one else totally ruined it.

And, our state's kids still go to every other school and learn how to shoot there.

And, us ?

We are stuck with Michael F. Adam$ and his own written lies to me every week asking me to give him monies for his now nearly $2 billion dollars a year budget and $2,100 dinners for 4 with not one person there who could have donated one single dollar to UGA, just cronies of his that Adam$ will make the fall guy 1st chance the sleaze gets.

Not one damn dollar; don't tell me it's all over.

Very interesting read above anonymous.

And Paul, I'll give you just year 4 (damn my memory), but I still think there is a small national perception of the Harricks. Maybe not with those who stay in tune with the game, AAU coaches, kids who play and are recruited, and all the rest who might have personal contact with the coach, but like I stated in my reply, those nationally, whose familiarity with the game is limited to national media coverage, will still talk about "that test". And in my opinion my friend, "that test" is still a bit of a problem, and currently still attached to the perception of UGA hoops in some eyes.

I hope the person that wrote the rambling diatribe did not learn to write at the University of Georgia...Dennis Felton had the smallest, weakest squad in the SEC last year. They had little choice but to put up a lot of shots and try to outscore opponents. Next year we will have some big bodies to bang under the boards. It will make a huge difference.
Coach Felton may have overreacted and delayed the teams' recovery a bit but his intentions are honorable. He will build a team we can all be proud of and then he will leave....and the same people that bitch about him now will criticize him for not being loyal. Same ol', same ol'.

If Felton gets this team out of the gutter enough that he would actually be considered for a job that would pay him better than $800,000/year, then yes I think he would leave us.

Right now, we're a long way from that happening.

And if Felton were to leave in a scenario where his resume was made attractive, it would be because UGA had made the NCAA tourney.

With the more stable talent base that Felton is building and the new practice facility opening in '07, the job will be *dramatically* more attractive when/if we do have to go looking for a coach b/c Felton voluntarily moved on.

Well, let's review the 3 comments to my facts that Dennis Felton's recruitment in this state of players that got playing time for him, our team then taking the most shots in the SEC this season, but missing the highest percentage of shots taken, shall we ?

MY RESPONSE TO THAT :

I presume you are talking about Coach Felton's trashing of the Georgia BuLLdawg Men's Basketball fans when he put us all down ?

You are very unclear what you mean otherwise that he *"overreacted a bit."*

On your next excuse that he *"delayed the team's recovery a bit"* again, with all due respect to your superior writing skills, you are totally obscure in your excuse here, giving us again no clue what it is that you are trying to say. Dennis Felton delayed the team's recovery a bit ? How ? What did he do that you make up the excuse for that Dennis Felton's intentions are honorable ?

Perhaps you are talking about the fact that the best player on the team, didn't get any minutes to play ? Is that what you mean by his intentions are honorable, but that you think he delayed the team's recovery a bit ?

With his good intentions ?

He has a very simple task.

His job is to recruit 2 Centers, 5 guards, 5 forwards who can shoot the basketball, or whom he can teach to shoot the basketball.

They need to rebound.

They need to get assists, which is hard when they miss the most shots of the entire SEC as an assist is only an assist when the ball goes into the cylinder and drops through the netting.

They need to get the ball up the court without throwing it away or having it stolen.

They need to defend the other team by tenacity and effort, attacking the ball as the opponent tries to get the ball up the court, getting in passing lanes, blocking shots, blocking out on defensive boards and getting therefore the rebound, and having position and knowledge of the opponent's game plan thwarting it.

They need to drive the lane and get free throws, cause contact offensively and make the free throws to get the opponent in foul trouble.

I have no idea whom it is you think that Coach Felton has recruited to play Center for him, when you discuss that he has a bunch of big men coming in to be the front line of defense, but I have followed it closely obviously, and would be happy to share with you that you are full of BS on that point.

As for the ones in the fold, it is painfully clear to everyone that it is no fun watching them shoot.

Jacking the ball up, is not a goal of any basketball team anywhere, and despite your love of your own obscure writing skills, you have not a clue on men's basketball, nor of writing anything on it that is not totally unreadable on the points you think you make oh so well, that do not say a thing.

Until that is you reply to this reply anonymous and answer the questions of just what it is that you mean about Felton delaying the recovery and how he overreacted you say.

MY COMMENTS ON THAT POST.

Exactly pwd.

And, our Cow Palace with only 10,000 seats, sucks.

Not to mention that we don't have a team, losing all the in-state players, and left with a bunch of players who either never did know how to shoot and Felton didn't teach them to either, or who did know how to shoot and instead were told to just jack the ball up - that's all we are capable of.

I'm sorry buddy, but frankly your points in both of these posts are so long winded and convoluted that I'm not sure if you're saying Felton is doing a good job or a bad one.

So I don't know whether to agree with you or not.
