That was my junior year in the Redcoat band (yeah, I know, I know...) and it was an awesome game.

We were down on the complete opposite end of the stadium from that pile up, and us and everyone around us was looking on in confusion. Then the team went crazy and ran off the field and the UGA fans around us started to as well.

After our band director got a look at what was going on and saw the Auburn fans starting to get pissed, he looked at us and started screaming, "GO! BACK TO THE BUSSES!". We usually would stay and play a post game show, win or lose, home or away, but it was obvious things were about to get pretty ugly.

That's my favorite game ever.

LOL that's awesome, Goff's best coaching ever! : D

Gotta imagine somewhere after our game @ Bama last season there was a barner saying "Look at those classless Bammers throwing stuff at players, our fans would never do that!"

I think they were throwing white roses and lotus flowers in appreciation. It surely wasn't a mass of plastic cups dripping with the aroma of coke and bourbon or rum.

I have written the following in stream of consciousness because it best depicts the whirl of sight, sound, emotion and utter-awesomeness that was that night.

I was there it was awesome Mack Strong jumped up into the stands after the game and I grabbed his helmet away from him and we high fived and my hand still hurts from it I gave him his damn helmet back It was absolute pandemonium I had gone to a concert the night before at auburn and sprained THE SHIT out of my ankle in a total drunken hey I'm gonna jump this fence moment and yet I could feel no pain as the entire world stopped in the final seconds of that blessed game.

GO DAWGS. Never forget it. Ray Goff's finest moment as a coach, no doubt.

Not to throw a wet blanket on this, but the bastard that is karma in the UGA-Auburn series paid us back for that night in 2001.

Ugh.

Anon #1... I am very surprised the Redcoats left like that. I was in the Redcoats from 1978-1982 and won SEC Championships at Auburn and we never ran out. That was the game Larry Munson pleaded with the Dawgs to Hunker Down and then exclaim to "Look at the Sugar falling from the sky" after beating Bo Jackson's Tigers/War Eagles/Plainsmen/whatever.

BTW: Anytime Georgia beats Auburn, it's a good game... even if the coach was Ray Goof!

too bad the video doesn't show when the water hoses came out

I could have done without the last :15 or :20 seconds of John Saunders commentary.

The hoses came out at the end of the Georgia upset win in 1986....on orders from Kermit Perry....
