Oh I wish a TE would crack-back his sorry a$$ in one of their upcoming games.

Or give his leg a big twist when in a pile to try and re-tear his groin.

As dirty as it is, we played just as dirty. Davis ripped his helmet off on drive one, on another drive his helmet comes off and our guy doesn't peel off as he hits him in the head. Williams knocks Tebow down away from the play (refs missed it), Boykin face mask out of bounds and Gilliard throwing a guy down out of bounds.

It tells me the players don't think they can beat these guys square.

This is an issue that Urban should address, otherwise it is a bad reflection on Florida's coaching staff and the University! Lets watch this week and see if big bad 51 is suspended!

Hits are one thing. Eye gouging is another. That isn't even allowed in the UFC.

Josh Davis knocked Spikes' helmet off because Spikes wears his helmet with only one chinstrap buckle buckled, a la Mike Vick.

Gotta represent, yo.

And if you're still mixing it up without a helmet and you get hit, that's your own fault. Not whoever hit him.

And the difference with the other 2 late hits, they were, you know, flagged.

This act is borderline criminal.

Boogers said...

LOL....you are our b!tch and always will...what is that 17 out of 20?

KARMA POLICE HAS IT RIGHT
After all the cheap shots the puppies took on Spikes he should have ripped that guys eye out!

The sad part of your story is how Sir Richt has lost complete discipline of your players. Facemasks, late hit on Tebow that wasn't called (which if that would have happened to cocks..your freakin heads would have exploded!!), ripping helmets off players, Dancing on the field after a meaningless TDs...
you went from tradition, talent and winning..
to cheap shots, thuggery, and whining...
Man..you have become the "NEW" Miami...let me know how that works for ya!!

Yuppers...Georgia football is dead...

GO GATORS!

Comparing eye-gouging to knocking someone's head off is all kinds of ignorant. Spikes wasn't buckling his helmet strap and should have been flagged for that alone. A late hit isn't in the same ballpark, either. GOUGING SOMEONES EYES is probably the most malicious thing you could possibly do on a football field, and takes more than just hate for the other team... it takes a sick twisted mind and a criminal mentality. Spikes' brother is a convicted murderer and it looks like Brandon Spikes is headed down the same road... just with more football ability.

The Watch Dawg said...

WOw..... a trashy Florida moron saying their player should have gouged our guys' eyes out, and then calling US the new "Thug U." Irony, anyone? I'll bet the poor trailer-park dwelling bastard wears a gold chain, too.

Trey said...

Can someone check Brandon Spikes's birth certificate? There is no way that dude is only 22.

boogers said...

WATCH PUPPY
LOL...I don't have a gold chain..but if i did it would have a pendant that said "17 out of 20"

LOL...
By the way...very nice of you to convict a guy because of actions of a family member..If that were to happen..you would be in jail for what your dad did to that goat...

Andy said...

Realist, I said the same thing to my dad yesterday. He has to be 29, or Lawrence Taylor. No way. I still get pimples, and I'm 31. Brandon Spikes has a mortgage and three kids somewhere.

Spikes should be arrested for his assault. If he had used a screw driver, would it have been overlooked and the punishment left up to Urban Myer ?
Now I am more sympathetic to Josh Davis' penalty for "unsportsmanlike __" for hitting Spikes after the whistle. Spikes probably needed it, just more than Davis gave.

Boogers,

You're missing one important point...if Cox was hit late in a way that might have jeopardized his status for the rest of the game/season, it wouldn't have mattered all that much; he sucks.

Of course he isn't an arrogant douchebag like your quarterback, either, so he wouldn't have deserved it like yours does. Once it became obvoious we were going to lose, I wouldn't have been too upset if we sent an expendable player on the field to end his career.

you pretty much summed up why people think the Bulldog fan base is a classless whinny bunch of crybabies with that comment...

keep up the good work..

"Hits are one thing. Eye gouging is another. That isn't even allowed in the UFC."

Normal late hits I agree with this, but helmet to helmet shots (Williams on Tebow) or Face Masks- the pointless yank on Demps early in the game (seriously the dumbest Facemask I've ever seen- Demps was clearly out and then the guy yanks his mask to his left) are worse than eye-gouging- sorry but at the moment we're just lucky as fans that there hasn't yet been a broken neck on a face mask- its going to happen and we all know it deep down (if you've ever played and had a Facemask yanked to one-side when you're running full speed you know what this is like).

Mr. Bulldawg said...

Oh yeah..FL's helmets kept flying off, because they weren't freakin buckled.

Sorry but this is way out of line- he's on track to be a convicted murder- kiss my ass dude, that's so far out of line I don't even know where to begin.

Hey Boogers,

Shouldn't you be finding some tires to put on the Trans-Am that's currently on blocks in front of the trailer, instead of posting on the internet?

I mean, you just KNOW this is the year Coarch Urban Meyers is going to call you to lead the victory parade in Gainesville!

Spikes is a thug, in the Ray Lewis vein. Someone will take care of him at the next level, rest assured.

Get bent.

boogers: u can't encourage eye removal in 1 post and then express indignation about the tebow comment. Both r equally repugnant. UF fans r the only in the SEC that throw urine on visitors. Except 4 Vandy, every team has it's share of reprobates. The entire "classy" debate is ridiculous.

My original post was not a comparison of who did what. My belief is that our players lose control w/ gusto in jax b/c they don't feel they can compete scrate up. This is hard 4 me to accept.

Anonymous said...

Eye gouging any player is completely uncalled for and Spikes should be suspended by Meyer (not going to happen) or the SEC (still unlikely). It was a dirty malicious attack, on a player that was defenseless, because other players were on top of him.

Secondly, if this was some sort of revenge for Spikes losing his helmet then he should have went at an olineman, even though the second time his helmet came off it was on a normal hit, nothing dirty.

Drew Butler is having one of the greatest seasons for a punter in CFB history. Absolutely insane numbers there.

Last Tuesday, I noted the way to beat Florida on both sides of the ball. These were my four keys on offense and note No. 4.

OFFENSE
1. Need 100-yard rusher (check Georgia's handful of wins over Florida the last decade and a half).
2. Must be efficient inside the 20. Field goal attempts are not acceptable.
3. Receivers must be uber physical with corners.
4. Somebody must send a message to LB Brandon Spikes early (perhaps a tight end initially lined up outside comes in motion, comes of the edge and blindsides the punk).

Will said...

I want to think something else is going on here. As much as I dislike Florida, it's hard to imagine Spikes having anything against Wayshaun already. And going for the eyes is a pretty rough reaction.

Not that I'm defending him, because it's a horrible move that I hope receives punishment. But something had to have drawn this. This can't have come without some provocation, right? I don't like thinking people are that horrible to each other that in something so completely unimportant in the large scale as a running play in a largely decided game would result in a random decision to go for someone's eyes.

Rugby players are, it is accepted, some of the toughest SOBs in the world. And eye-gouging in rugby carries with it a suspension of, usually, at least EIGHT WEEKS.

If spotted by the referee during the game, it's also an automatic red card, which means the player is ejected and his team plays short-handed the rest of the game.

In short, eye-gouging is a violent, despicable act, with no purpose other than a clear intent to injure. Suspended for a game? Spikes should be out for the rest of the season.

The folks trying to compare this with UGA's stupid penalties/late hits, etc must be a dumb as a box of rocks. UGA has been playing DUMB all year, I agree....that said, if you can show me some footage of a UGA player going for someone's eyes after the play is clearly over, I for one, would want that player OFF of my team for good.

We'll see how the UF program deals with this, and it will be telling.

I can't believe people are trying to rationalize Spikes actions to Ealey. The guy jumped on him and tried to take out his faces most likely his eyes. Spikes is a thug and I don't care how many times we lose to Florida. I am just happy to be a Dawg and not some jort wearing central FL trailer park resident who probably has the clap from all his piercings and tats! Go buy another national championship t-shirt from Stuckey's for $5 you bunch garbage men!

It tells me that the coaches no longer have control of their players and this type behavior should not be tolerated on EITHER side of the field.

As longs as they justify what they are doing out there and are allowed to get away with it , it will continue ...

The NFL is already out of control and it looks like college ball is headed the same way...

Punish these kids for this type of behavior and it will stop let it go on and someone is going to really get hurt out there at the hands of a thug wearing a football uniform.

I am old school...there are consequences for actions and it should be that way across the board.

BTW we got our butts beat out there Saturday and the gimmicks with the helmets and the uniforms are a joke. If you cannot get inspired to play a GA/FLA game without those gimmicks then we have a problem.

How about prepare to play the game and play it at 100% and then everyone would be happy.

Hopefully some changes are going to be made ...

By the way:

I'm confident that if, let's say, Rennie Curran had gouged, let's say, Tim Tebow in the eye, and then been suspended for half the Tennessee Tech game, then (a) Urban would have been totally OK with that punishment and (b) that idiot Slive wouldn't have intervened. Yep. Totally confident that's exactly what would happen.

(Not that Rennie would do that, of course. Just a hypothetical.)

Keep in mind, HAD he been flagged and ejected for this act during the game his NCAA-mandated punishment would have been......

Sit out the first half of his next game.

Not saying it would've been sufficient, just saying....

Pat Forde from ESPN.com takes a shot at Urban Meyer's suspension of Brandon Spikes:

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/columns/story?columnist=forde_pat&page=dash0910&sportCat=ncf

Forty names, games, teams and minutiae making news in college football (discounted suspensions -- half off! -- sold separately at Florida [1]):

Urban The Ironfisted
Everyone who has seen the video of Gators linebacker Brandon "The Gouger" Spikes (2) going after the eyes of Georgia running back Washaun Ealey recognizes the truth. It was an appalling cheap shot, one of the worst things a football player can do to an opponent.

(Well, maybe not everyone would recognize it as such. If the guy in the replay booth at the Indiana-Iowa game (3) had watched the video, he would have given Spikes a sportsmanship award. And taken another Hoosiers touchdown off the board.)

[+] EnlargeUrban Meyer
Steve Mitchell/US PresswireUrban Meyer suspended Brandon Spikes for the first half of the Vandy game.

Gators coach Urban Meyer (4) reviewed the video and used it as a teaching moment. The lesson Meyer delivered: Nothing, not even thuggish behavior, will be allowed to substantively interfere with our pursuit of a repeat national title. That was the unmistakable message sent by Meyer's semisuspension of Spikes, which will keep him off the field for roughly 30 first-half snaps against mighty Vanderbilt on Saturday.

Spikes' action reminded The Dash of a moment from the 2006 Colonial Athletic Association basketball tournament. Namely, when George Mason guard Tony Skinn groin-punched Hofstra's Loren Stokes.

Going after a guy's eyes is more serious because of the potential damage. But the two acts are similarly classless.

Eleventh-seeded George Mason bit the bullet, did the right thing and suspended Skinn for its first game of the NCAA tournament against No. 6 seed Michigan State. The Patriots wound up going to the Final Four.

Florida suspended Spikes for half a game against the worst team in the Southeastern Conference. In a word: weak.

The thing that upsets me the most about this specific play is that Spikes was off sides and it wasn't called.

The rest of it boils down to coaching. I'm old school too. The culture of chest pumping and other much more henious acts exists because it's allowed to exist.

The responsible parties to Saturday's actions are Urban Meyer and Mark Richt, Our team has been crippled for at least the last two years by lack of self discipline.

Urban will get his when he faces a well discipline Saban team in Atlanta and I fear that we will get yet another reminder when we face Paul Johnson's team in Atlanta.
