It's a little known fact that the Athletic Department at South Carolina serves its players cereal on plates. Why? Because they lost all their bowls. The Gamecocks were legendary losers of their first eight bowl games. But the program is making progress...of sorts. They have gone from losing bowl games to just losing the bowl trophy.
After the Liberty Bowl, the SC coaches and administrators accidentally left the game trophy back in Memphis. Luckily for the program, they also left one of their players in Memphis. The State has the story of how senior long snapper Scott Morgan and three of his buddies saved the 80 pound trophy. The story involves a long road trip and of course a stop a Hooters in Conyers, GA.
It's pretty easy to see how something like this happens. It's not like they're experienced in bringing home hardware.
My only question...did the Athletic Director have to move any of their Preseason National Champion trophies to make room for the Liberty Bowl mini-monument?
