Felton says he's likely done for the year. If you didn't see the injury, be glad. It was a gruesome looking fluke buckling of the knee.
Georgia was playing its best offensive game in a month or two, and Mercer was having another exceptionally strong outing. After struggling with his shot for about a month, Mercer's last two games were two of his best. Yes, he jacked up an ill advised three pointer or two vs the Gamecocks, but overall he played very well.
In his last two games his stats were:
Vs. SC = 24 min, 12 points, 4 rebs, 5 assists and only 2 turnoversIt's a big loss for Georgia defensively, and it's a potentially devastating injury for Mercer. Keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
Vs. UF = 33 min, 15 points, 8 rebs ,3 assists and only 1 turnover

I may be wrong, but I think in the past you've chided some longtime hoops fans as unduly fatalistic, pwd. Well, you got to keep hoping, but man, somebody up there really is a Gator fan. I mean, damn, just damn.
If we can get past this and still make the tournament it will be quite an accomplishment. There's a chance -- the two guys on the team who've had the most flashes but never really established themseleves, Woodbury and Humphrey -- have to step up big. I think they can.
I was stunned watching it. I don't think he was touched by anyone, and it looked like a genuine freak of nature. I really hate it for Mercer.
I think in a way the team will be okay, though. We have enough depth to survive it if everyone will pick up the slack. Humphrey definitely needs to rise to the occasion.
From where I was sitting in the stands, it looked like he got clotheslined, and his legs kept going while his upper body stopped. Of course, he gets called for traveling. There was never a replay shown on the screen at the Colonial Center, so my first impression was my only impression as to what happened.
On a related note, I think the EMT had to run out to his truck to get his equipment, because it took forever for them to do anything of a medical nature to Mercer.
