I finally finished comparing Chan Gailey's record against quality opponents versus similar BCS coaches. Let's refresh our memories on the criteria:
1. Head coach must have finished 5 seasons
2. We are taking the last 3 seasons
3. Quality opponent = BCS school with a winning record that season
The Chan Wagon rolls in at 21 of 36 with a record of 9-14 over the last three years against BCS teams with a winning record. Richt appears at 10th with a 13-8 record. Others of note: Tuberville (3rd) and Fulmer (13th).
Interesting way of looking at the data. I guess the rationale for not looking at the full five year period would be..."Over the past three years, he's working with a roster of mostly his own guys."
