Ranking Chan Gailey against his peers

The GT Sports Blog looked behind Gailey's basic win/loss record to compare his W/L record to those of his peers. Here is how they defined the ranking:
I finally finished comparing Chan Gailey's record against quality opponents versus similar BCS coaches. Let's refresh our memories on the criteria:

1. Head coach must have finished 5 seasons
2. We are taking the last 3 seasons
3. Quality opponent = BCS school with a winning record that season
The Chan Wagon rolls in at 21 of 36 with a record of 9-14 over the last three years against BCS teams with a winning record.

Richt appears at 10th with a 13-8 record. Others of note: Tuberville (3rd) and Fulmer (13th).

Interesting way of looking at the data. I guess the rationale for not looking at the full five year period would be..."Over the past three years, he's working with a roster of mostly his own guys."

Any surprises to you on the list?

Glen Mason finishes next-to-last at 2-14.

Oh what might have been!

Boston College and Texas Tech? Weird. I'm glad to see Fulmer is keeping up the good work.

That picture never stops giving, does it?

The classics never die.

If I could get that blown up to 24x20, I'd frame it in my office. It's outstanding.

The list is interesting, but the comments over there on the GT blog are hilarious.

Good to see the NATS blog responses are quick to fall back on the BS "but we have to recruit different athletes..."; "what is the academic reputation of the other schools" arguments.

God, they make me sick.

I don't care about statistics. All I know is that Gailey's teams don't display character. The UTAH game is a prime example. And they can't get it done when they have too. Thet can't pull one out. If the game comes down to gaining a yard or defending a yard, Tech will lose. The only game Gailey has pulled out was the Clemson game come back where Calvin Johson just made some catches no one else could make.
