Bulldog Hotline Recap

JimFromDuluth recapped Monday's Night's Bulldog Hotline show. The most interesting thing is Richt's continued focus on the need to do more tackling to the ground in practice going forward. The injuries made it tough to do too much tackling in practice for fear of not being able to field much of a team after additional injuries.

We really need to catch a break next year health wise. Speaking of injuries, Darryl Gamble broke his leg versus Tech.

You'd think, with all the injuries, someone up there doesn't WANT us to do well. =/

Eighteen season ending injuries? Wow. I didn't know the number was that high. I'm still not with everyone else on the "Fire Willie" bandwagon because I think a lot of what CMR says here makes sense: they practiced lightly because of injuries, and they lost fundamentals because of practicing lightly. That's a tremendous awareness of the problems with the team, and I can only hope that awareness gets translated into action.

Have we been practicing lightly because of injuries for the last 3 or 4 years? The erosion in defensive fundamentals didn't just start in September. It's been going on for much longer than that.

It started before the West Virginia game. It is only now the regular fans are noticing it which means it is really bad.

Apparently every other team in college football is asking for trouble by kicking it down the middle and as far as they can because as far as i can tell we are the only team that does this stupid directional kick crap! It doesnt work richt! Watch the bama/florida game and you will see how to cover kicks.

Number 2 scoring defense in the SEC last year and number 3 overall defense. In 20006 17 ppg. In 2005, 16 ppg. In 2004, the Holy BVG gave up, drum roll please..... 16 ppg.

So to say that "real fans" have noticed it now, anon 12:22, I would say then you are correct.

I would not say 2nd best D in the SEC an erosion of massive levels.

Seems like forgetting how to tackle is like forgetting how to ride a bicycle.

Wrap your arms around the guy. How hard is that to remember?

Funny how with injuries on the OL Searls (sp?) and Bobo still managed to have the #1 passer, rusher, and pass catcher in the SEC.

I woulda asked, "Coach, have you given any thought to not going in at halftime? Maybe we could just lounge around on the field for about 15 minutes until its time for the second half."
