Hoops: UGA vs. WKU on ESPNU Tonight

The Bulldogs face last year's Sweet 16 team Western Kentucky on the road tonight at 9:00 pm on ESPNU. Western beat #3 Louisville recently so this is an enormous test for Felton's squad. The ABH preview article includes a short update on Trey Thompkins (PF) and his strong initial debut in the P-NIT consolation games.

If you're one of the 200 people in America who get ESPNU, check out tonight's game. When I saw Thompkins, I saw a kid that inspires hope for the future.

Not only do I get ESPNU, I get ESPNU-HD.

I'll be a happy camper.

That makes two of us...only 198 more to go...

I'm pretty sure there are at least 198 other people where I live in Florida. I'll go find them.

ESPNU was on the basic Directv package for the first part of football season, then it switched to a premium channel. I'm not paying extra for it until ESPN forces me to by putting SEC football on there as part of their new tv deal. On the other hand, I get NFL Network. Suck it, Cumcast!

I am watching now. There are some exciting things waiting to happen for Georgia Basketball this year! Go Dawgs

Georgia is turning the ball over too much. If not this game wouldn't be as close as it is. UGA can run the transition game, at least againts WKU. Still this is a good feeling. PWD, this is the first time I am seeing Thompkins. He looks really, really good so far.

Winning at the half!
38-35

Jackson left with an injury. Dawgs turning the ball over. Committing bad fouls. Going on long stretches without a bucket. Seems like they are deciding to play one good half and one bad half too.

Jackson is back, but we are struggling from the line. We are out rebounding and hustling them, but the free throws both their makes and our misses are killing us right now. Still just down by 1.

Why watch the game when I can listen to Scotty H...?

We just fell apart in the second half. This is depressing. The UGA family needs a win in something relevent.

Wow, close game, disappointing to lose though

anon 11:06

you do remember the SEC tourney back in march?

granted it was prolly a fluke, but the top national story was pretty relevant.

I think anon 11:06 was referring to the despair we may feel after a very frustrating football season when expectations were so high. If you think about it, the best team we beat was 7-5 SC or LSU. Not too great considering the #1 preseason ranking. It was a waste of a great foursome on offense. Anyway, enough rambling, he wants a win in something significant. Like a surprise win over a good WKU team.

thats the problem w/ sports...you align and identify w/ a team and you have no opportunity to determine the outcome.

I just do not understand why the UGA basketball program has been a perennial disappoint. Save a few seasons with Nique and the scandalous years with Harrick, we've been the basketball equivalent of Kentucky in football. I just don't get it. Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, and LSU can field good teams from time to time. So should we. We are joke. After a depressing football season, THIS is what I have to look forward to? Moral victories against teams we should beat? I don't care if they went to the Sweet 16 last year, they are Western Kentucky! A Hilltopper? Ugh. Hopefully our baseball team can keep me afloat until next football season...
