Quick Fulmer Cup Update

The latest Fulmer Cup update involves UGA not being on the board.  I'm sure the Athens-Clarke County PD's Scooter Outlaw and Jay Walker Prevention Divisions, which include more than 100 officers, is as shocked as you are by this news.  They've pledged to re-triple their efforts to bring justice to the lawless streets of Athens.

Speaking of cops.  I tend to lay off the children of coaches given my track record on the topic (don't ask...it involved me making a dumb joke that went over like a pregnant high jumper).  However, this one looks harmless enough.

Apparently, Florida defensive line coach Dan McCarney's daughter was arrested at a house party in Iowa and dropped the classic, " Do you know who my dad is?" (between alleged attempts to kick the cops):
Jillian McCarney told the officer she "guaranteed all her charges will be 'dropped' because her name is 'McCarney'" and they have "a lot of money," according to police.

First off, I'm shocked the Big 10 cops could handle her SEC speed to even lay a hand on her.  Second, as 81Dog told me, "If she pulled that in Georgia, she could be charged with felony obstruction of an officer (1-5 years), terroristic threats (1-5), and probably disorderly conduct (misdemeanor)."

So...FYI to Urban's kid over at Tech...Don't go dropping "My daddy coaches the Gators" in the Peach State.

I work for the Georgia State Patrol and she most def would have gotten a felony obstruction charge on her preppy little butt. We had a woman take a swing and miss a trooper and she ate dirt and got two felony charges on her record now.

Yeahhh this brought a smile to my face.

Besides, its like a line coach is going to be so well known in Big 10 country....They could really give a rat's a$$ what school her dad coaches, she would be really screwed if he coached at Iowa State.

Let's see. 21year old girl gets drunk and does something stupid. Something she will be teased about for maybe the rest of her life. "Hey look there's the 'do you know who my daddy is' Girl." SURPRISE SURPRISE, THE GSP ABOVE WANTS TO ADD FELONY CHARGES TO THE REST OF HER LIFE. I hope that feeds your ego.

The impact of "do you know who I am?" is hopelessly blunted when the officer has to ask "who the hell is that?"

If there's anything a cop overcompensating for being hung like a light switch hates, it is your failure to respect his a-thor-i-tie.

Rome is a tool, but he is right in one regard: If you have to ask "Do you know who I am?", then the answer is no. Not only do they not know who you are, at that point, they don't care.

You're going to get another ticket.

The last two Fulmer Cup winners (Bama '08, Illinois '07) had unexpectedly strong years, ending up in BCS bowl games. And Ronnie Wilson won Florida the Ellis T. Jones Award and a 6th place finishin in 2006... when Florida won the MNC.

So here's to a lot of discipline problems from Georgia this year.

Lane Kiffin thinks it's funny that her name is McCarney and she still coudn't get out of going to jail.

too make matters worse, her father was fired from Iowa State and replaced by Gene "I have always been an West Opelika man" Chizik.

Glad it never happened, but could you imagine if one of Goff's girls had of pulled some crap like this.

Just a quick prediction, Lil'Kiff will be a perennial top 2 in the Fulmer cup once he fills his roster with "his" guys. Only the gainesville group will provide any competition.

I hope you're referring to something involving the pictures of the Bowden girl at Clempson. Allegedly.

Am I right?

I'm stunned she didn't end up with an acute case of concrete poisoning after attempting to kick an officer/officers. I know I've seen several 'ladies' take a dramatic tumble to the ground after taking an ill advised swipe at an officer after one too many at the old Uptown Lounge.

Then again, I saw one of the bouncers at Uptown literally carry a kid outside by his face one night before tossing him in the street one-handed...

PWD - this is indeed a case where piling on a coach's dumb kid is warranted.

Hey, asshole, puking on a police car is stupid. Walking in front of them on a city street with an open beer bottle is stupid. Taking a swing at a cop is more than stupid, and anybody who does that deserves what they get. Police officers, even ones as overbearing as the Athens-Clarke ones, do not deserve to get assaulted, even if it's by snot nosed brat girls.

this is just a public service type announcement, but no matter how righteous your indignation with the police, it will likely not help your situation to start cursing and kicking them, or threatening to kick their asses. It's not an argument that is likely to resolve in your favor on the scene, and lawyers can be expensive (hey. Lawyers have to eat, too, and we usually arent the ones who suggested your undisciplined drunk ass should start rumbling with the law).

It's always happened, of course, but many of today's "brighter students" seem to have a curious belief that they can, in fact, do no wrong, and anyone who challenges them deserves to be cussed out (cough, Fred Munzenmaier, cough) without consequence. This, sadly, is not the way it works in real life.

do yourself a favor if you find yourself in a sitution involving the cops. Keep your mouth shut, be polite, and talk to a lawyer later when you're sober and calm. No sense ratcheting a disorderly conduct case into several felony counts if you dont have to, right?

Yeah...google Hartwell, Ga police beating if you want to see how bad it can really get when you attack a police officer. Lotta tension up here right now.

PWD you are right , this one had to be shared.Being a spoiled brat is no excuse for fighting with cops. The fact you were caught "redhanded" doesn't help.

Hey Irishdawg,

It's the "Asshole" here. Do you really think this warrents a felony charge? If so, you have a right to your opinion. No matter how F^cking stupid it is. Before you go there, I don't have any felony charges. Okay, a stupid drunk girl hits a cop. I say ruff her up a little bit. She'll get over, but the felony charge will not go away. I never got drunk an took a swing at a law officer. I was very polite, even when drinking, when I had run-ins with the law. I just don't think she should be punished the rest of her life for it. If that means I'm an Asshole, oh well. BTW I probably am an Asshole.

Dear Asshole,

Yes, I do think punching a cop deserves a felony charge. Please explain in concise, non-retarded terms why you think it doesn't. If there are not serious consequences for assaulting a police officer, then that will empower more idiots to think they can try it. In a perfect world, cops could just tune some moron up and hope he learns his lesson, but we live in the real, stupid world where a disruptive Florida student refuses to follow lawful orders, gets tazered according to department policy, and yet we have all the weepy hand wringers out because he screamed like a 12 year old girl. Consider that.

And consider this; this dumb broad will not have her life ruined, so get off your high horse. At worst, she'll plead to a misdemeanor charge, do community service, and might learn how to not act like a Jerry Springer guest.

I am fine with what ever the penalty is for assaulting a police officer, JUST AS LONG AS IT GOES BOTH WAYS, not matter how 'non-violent" the offense is. Zero tolerance is for a nation of morons with absolute power at the top. Judgment should be used. Where have you gone, Sheriff Andy Taylor.
