John Wooden Passes Away
In 1946, John Wooden interviewed with Wally Butts to become the head basketball coach at The University of Georgia. Due to recruiting policies in the South at the time, Wooden wouldn't have been able to assemble the type of team he wanted. So he turned down a job offer from Butts. Two years later, he started coaching at UCLA. Oh, what could have been.
Coach Harrick brought Wooden to Athens to speak about 8 years ago. It was one of the most amazing talks I've listened as the quick wit of the man was still obvious well into his 90s.
Wooden has passed away. Our thoughts are with his family and the UCLA family.

I guess he wanted to bring in black players?
What could have been indeed. As a big Hoop Dawgs fan I have reflected upon/lamented that day more times than I care to recount.
Rest in peace, Coach Wooden.
Wooden wanted to employ all players, not just black. Georgia certainly wasn't the only school that wold have prevented that.
He was truly amazing and we have lost a giant. I encourage everyone to look at this pyramid and maybe read a book of his.
TED is a pretty interesting concept and worth looking into. Most can't attend or will ever attend a TED conference, but the talks and idea flow are very interesting and stimulative.
